The Island of Ysgard is a mysterious one. The world of Aden always knew there was a section of their planet that was shrouded in heavy mists that no boat could get through, but.. one day the mists just disappeared.
The Blue Star Empire was the first to try to establish a settlement on the island, and Holmond was formed, but just as soon as they were getting their foot in the door, the town went silent, and scouting ships observed from the shore the choked ruins of Holmond, strangled by large roots and overrun with strange beasts.
Terrified, with some of the sailors even shouting that the crescent-moon mountain formation was a curse, Blue Star Empire retreated for the island for a short time, but.. consumed by their need for expansion and resources, they opted to try again. And try again they did, with the newly established port town of Stokra to the northwest
Stokra is approaching its 5th anniversary now, having been established by important figures in the Blue Star Empire for a while; it finally opens its (port) doors to adventurers of any and all Kingdoms on the mainland, no matter their allegiance, and ships upon ships are making their way to the meager port-town in seek of treasure, answers, glory, power, and everything inbetween.
Taking advantage of this, the Guild of
Dragons Wings was quickly established as the only known official Adventurer’s Guild on the island, and it is there where our new adventurers take up residence and employment, taking on the jobs of both Stokra’s civilians, and Stokra’s leaders. Whether it’s protecting a farm or claiming land in the name of the Blue Star Empire, Dragons Wings is willing to do it all, for the right incentive of course.
Ysgard, from what people can tell thus far, is covered mostly in forests. Some having more of an autumnal look to it, some looking far more.. sinister and corrupt. A desert has been discovered recently, south of where one of the first settlements have set up.
The ecosystem more often than not seems a bit pre-historic, with raptors and giant birds being some of the more common creatures. Plant life seems to vary from average to absolutely filled with whimsy and mystery, with some forests even being described as Feywild-like.
That being said, indigenous civilizations do also litter the island. Some goblins, some orcs, some others. There is much to discover about Ysgard's ecosystem.
So far, the only major supernatural phenomena observed are the mists that at one point cloaked the entire island. Now that they've rescinded, they only cloak the inner reaches of the island, with adventurers slowly making their way closer to the edges, trying to discover ways to proceed forward.
Wood from the forest, grain from the fields planted, and of course, a few metals to be unearthed.
Of particular note, a type of ore has been discovered, unique to any other thus discovered. "
Ysgardite", ore with a strange greenish hue. It seems to be roughly as durable as steel, but any additional properties it may have are yet undiscovered...
Strangely enough, the island itself
has no history predating the arrival of Holmond, or at least.. No history that the current kingdoms on the island are aware of. The island, for as long as almost anyone can remember, have been cloaked in mists entirely to the point where few were even sure that anything was to be found
within. Any ships that attempted to pierce through only found themselves harmlessly deposited on the other side, almost certainly by magic.
When
The Blue Star Empire attempted to settle to the island the first time its mists rescinded, the resulting settlement, Holmond, was discovered to have been destroyed the next time ships arrived to dock. Sailors reported large roots strangling the settlement, and strange.. twisted beasts gnawing at the ruins.
It was labelled a curse, and the island itself being "accursed" for nearly decade before a second attempt was made.
