Basures Phil's Scoutwing
So, we started with a buch of scrap I bought at auction in Basurus. It acually went on the cheap 'cause none of the crawler shops wanted it - no wheels, claws, or traction belts, ya know? Anyway, all it was was a bunch of partially complete limbs and so things the seller called "fan bits." But it spoke to me, right? I figured, what the heck, the joints were in good shape, and the cables were all intact.
I laid them all out when I got back to the shop, and started compairing the partially intact stuff with scraps that were all on their lonesome. Not a lot made sense until I laid them out smallest to largest. The pieces that have a big void in the middle - those were the last thing I figured out.
Nell nearly had a fit when I grabbed the raw chicken she was about to cook for dinner, and got machine oil all over it while cutting it apart, and tossing what she had planned to eat. And there it was - the bones, the joints, the orientation. A wing.
It took me a couple of years sorting through scrap piles, trading with the crawler shops for bits they had but didn't recognize, chatting up salvagers. But I eventually had enough parts for two full wings, plus extra random parts. (I think if we widened the search we could find enough for a few more sets. Don't you have a few contacts in Balenpost?)
When I got your letter, and found out you got that big defense contract, I knew I had to get home to Hupperdock. Those clowns in Bassurus just want giant dirt eaters. No one there wants something like my birdie.Power Generation
