Bisaft Port

Along the southern shore of the island lies a single bastion of civilization, known as Bisaft Post. A small town of no more than sixteen hundred people, the harbor town is a tropical escape for concord citizens and a surprisingly busy place of business for ships in need of resources and repairs while passing through the trade lanes of the Swavain Islands.

Demographics

70% humans, 13% Tabaxi, 6% halfling, 11% other races

Government

The settlement is run by the portcaller and his personal Zhelezo soldiers. Minor power struggles occur with local business leaders. The business leaders can be roughly divided into two factions; the tourism industry, and the ship support industry. Docking fees and taxes on hospitality venues support the local infrastructure, such as it is.

Defences

Wooden Pallisade walls surround the main settlement. There is a small volunteer militia of hunters and retired military locals.

Industry & Trade

About 45% of the local population is involved in the tourism industry, and 45% in the shipping/ship support industry. There are many retired people living here, and most of the residents of the maw are involved in hunting/gathering to supply the local and export trade, or as hunting guides for wealthy tourists.

Infrastructure

The main settlement is protected by a modest wooden pallisade, seperating the settlement from the surrounding jungle.   A modest sporting arena anchors the open market. The docks feature a shipyard with nearby warehouses used by the shipping companies. An ancorage to the east provides shelter for ships waiting to dock.   Just west of the settlement is a popular luxury resort.

Districts

The Docks: Busy, with some shipping company offices, the office of the Portcaller, and the shipyard. Two taverns and a boardinghouse here mainly patronized by sailors.   Old City: to the east of the docks. Within the pallisade, also a workingclass neighborhood. A bit swampy as the area used to be a mangrove swamp, and never really stays drained. Dominated by bamboo structures elevated on stilts. Somewhat rundown, not frequented by tourists.   Naviask's Throat: A ramshackle barrio built on the sides of a steep ravine just east of the pallisade. Wooden huts, walkways and bridges are cobbled together here. It is predominatly Ki'nauan and Tabaxi.   Tiryki Anchorage: at the mouth of the small river that runs down the maw. Not much is onshore, save for a small vessle dock a few shacks, and a maintained trail to the east gate.   The Market Ward: north east of docks. Most merchants and skilled workers live here. Some perminent shops that serve the local comunity.   The Grand Souk: north of the docks. Crowded, lively open air market. Mostly open with a few perminant buildings. Cafes, taverns, and houses of pleasure are scttered around the perimeter. The Jungle Arena is on the northwest side near the pallisades.   The Merchant Ward: situated on a hillside, overlooks the harbor and the Grand Souk. Luxurious mansions, estates, and vacation homes for rich merchants and powerful political families.   Mystic Palms Resort: Expensive and posh. Spa, and bungalos dot the property, fantastic beach with umbrellas and loungers. An open air banquet venue, usually with live music. Food mostly served buffet style. Bar, office and consierge desk on north side, bar is open to buffet venue (think carribean resort).
