Perinþa
Perinþa is the second largest island in the Silver Sea, second only to Refon, located off the coast of Faron in southeastern Adynía.
It was not until relatively recently that the faronians, with the help of the dwarven Dalindreans and Fazeronians, were able to connect Perinþa to the surface via bridge on Vamma, an island close by.
History
The island was once inhabited by Faronians who settled there during bronze age, first as colonists and later established their own kingdom. Their reign proved short-lived; one day the island suddenly ascended into the sky and has hovered above the sea ever since. The exact reason for this phenomenon is unknown, and has puzzled scholars throughout southern and eastern Adynía for centuries. The islanders slowly perished as the rivers and springs dried up, rendering the land infertile and killing off the livestock. It was not until relatively recently that the faronians, with the help of the dwarven Dalindreans and Fazeronians, were able to connect Perinþa to the surface via bridge on Vamma, an island close by.
Geography
Once famed for its beauty and bounty, Perinþa is now an arid wasteland for the most part, watered only by dew and infrequent rain since the lakes and rivers dried up after it ascended.
Fauna & Flora
The native fauna and livestock brought by the original colonists died out soon after the catastrophe, and by the time explorers reached the island the only wildlife on Perinþa were seagulls and other birds which had made their nests on the cliff edges. Their population near the bridge connecting the island to Vamma has been reduced somewhat by rats.
Natural Resources
Although Perinþa is unsuitable for agriculture of any kind, the current king of Faron, Nehes V, is planning on establishing mines and quarries in the central highlands.
