A good reason to travel..

The island of Rogsh is one of the few places that are widely recognized in the realm. The foot of the great dorment vulcano Sivhis is the only known place, where Bleeding Flax grows. Bleeding Flax is a herb that, after its discovery, changed the way potions and medicine was made. It applifies the effectiveness of potions and while having diminishing returns it helped making potions and medicine more potent and therefore more accessible. Any attempt to cultivate the herb away from Rogsh has failed. And while nobody knows for certain why, the working theory of the archwizard of the magic college on Rogsh is, that the vulcano teared the very fabric of magic that covers reality like a sheet. And that this magical tear leaks a unique essence that allows the herb to flourish - or something like that..Anyway

The cultivation, harvest and distribution of Bleeding Flax is administered by the members of the Band of Shiv , an organization that grew from a merchant guild to a powerful player with ties to most kingdoms of Aedazan. They're governing most of the notable cities, villages, outposts, and the harbour on the main island.

All Bleeding Flax gets shipped of this harbour and all of it has a single destination, or at least a single first destination - the tiny island Irun - Even detailled maps would not usually show islands this size but almost every map that shows Rogsh also shows Irun. The reason for this is the sea surrounding Rogsh. The island is surrounded tricky currents, dangerous reefs and a host of dangerous creatures inhabiting them. The only reasonably safe way off the island is a narrow course to Irun. After making its way to the island the Bleeding Flax gets loaded onto carts and moved to the other side of Irun, where it gets shipped off to the rest of the continent.

The voyage between the islands remains dangerous and requires experienced navigators and captains, but is manageable in the grand scheme of things. Most - only not to say all - of those seafarers are part a group called Muuru. Their members are mostly locals from either Rogsh or Irun although many daring sailors joined them throughout the years and became an integral part of the society. The Muuru are highly respected within the Band of Shiv , not least because they're dependent on the Muuru's abilities.

In the last month strange occurrences have started to heap on Irun. Creatures were sighted that shouldn't be there, the sea has started to become even more deadly, and unusual natural events are sometimes literally shaking the island. As of late the travel between Rogsh and Irun had to be stopped entirely.

The Band of Sivh send distress letters to all their allies and everyone capable to locate the source of the occurrences and to make them stop. The involuntarily leading officer is a young half-elf named Elmae, who was forced into the position of crisis manager and leader by being the highest ranking officer of the Band of Shiv that is on Irun and isn't currently missing.
You followed the call for help by the Band of Shiv and are now on board of a ship headed to Irun. Your fellow passengers are the ships crew and a few strangers, who you assume also were summoned by the distress call..
