The coming of the deities and the beginning of creation
    Construction beginning/end

Before time itself, the world of Aerios was a primordial cognitive realm where only the potential for ideas existed. The Over-God desired to bring purpose to this infinite cognitive energy and so He created the deities of Purpose using this potential cosmic energy of ideas. Each of the six was created to give Purpose and breath life into the creation of the idea, yet as the Over-God created Purpose he knew it would have no meaning without chaos or as He called it, Opposition. Thus, six deities of Opposition were created and they spread chaos and devoided the cognitive realm of meaning. The older deities of Purpose saw the chaotic effect of Opposition and decided to create an anchor or Purpose a place where ideas would last and be unchanging, thus they built the world of Aerios.
Aumaunator created the Sun and the idea of light which would burn out the chaos of darkness. He then created the lands of Aerios and gave it the same shape as his sun which was a circle. The lands were green and fed off the sun which gave the perfect amount of light to allow things to grow and thrive.

Selûne created the moon, for she saw beauty in the night and wanted a light by which to see it. Thus she created the idea of beauty, causing the lands of Aumaunator to change color and cool his sun. Yet Selûne is a changing deity and she found the lands to be constant, so she created the sea to shape and change the lands over time and gave her moon the ability to rule over it.

Bahamut created the storms as he loved Selûne's sea and the lands of Aumaunator and so brought them together as one, creating the idea healing. The sun of Aumaunator he saw as a beacon against chaos and so caused it to intensify for a short while so as to keep chaos at bay. Bahamut then created the first creatures of Aerios, the Metallic Dragons of Purpose.

Xan Yae created death and she made the sun of Amaunator cool at the end of one year, for all things must have Purpose and so she created the idea of time by giving it an end. She then created twilight for change should happen slowly so one can appreciate the idea of life, and thus she also created the lotus flower as symbol of life and its ability to survive through time.

Thus Aerios was created and anchored the idea of life and time so that chaos could not sweep it away. Yet there were two deities remaining who found the world of Aerios lacking. For they saw creatures and plants who could never understand or appreciate these ideas as they could.

Mystra created the Weave and the idea of intelligence. She called this power magic and she decreed it the beginning of thought. Mystra permeated all creation with her magic and created lay lines where that magic could strengthened and weaken.

Deneir created secrets all over Aerios and the idea of adventure. He told nothing of the caves, unusual creatures or oasis he created to the other deities and kept no recorded of them for himself so that he might forget their creation. Deneir loves the endless possibilities of the primordial cognitive realm and saw Aerios was lacking as it had no ability to be unknown. Thus he also created luck and chance to randomize and create new things out of what the other deities had created.

Yet this was not the extent of Mystra and Deneir's plan for they brought the other four deities and showed them that Aerios would be better if there was someone new to discover it. Thus the Kalashtar were created and given Mystra's intelligence, Deneir's curiosity, Bahamut's wisdom, Amaunator's laws, Xan Yae's strength of will and Selûne's beauty.

Proud of their accomplishment, Purpose had created its ultimate form and the six cherished and protected it. Eventually Opposition learned of Aerios and they were displeased at Purpose's cleverness in creating a permeant idea. So the Opposition secretly came to Aerios and began creating their own chaos, in the hopes of changing and destroying the ultimate idea.

    The Birth of the Dragonborn

Bahamut was the first to create new mortals. Although the metallic dragons of Aerios saw Bahamut as their king, they did not worship him as a deity and so he created a younger sibling race known as the Dragonborn. These were short-lived mortals who were bipedal and few could fly, but all resembled the dragons of the skies. At first, all were metallic, but Tiamat attempted to curse Bahamut's people and turn them into chromatic dragons, yet the hearts of the Dragonborn are not easily swayed and only a few born chromatic forsook their father. Thus nearly all Dragonborn worship and revere Bahamut as their god-king and all father.

    The Birth of the Elves
    Cultural event

In the far northern lands, where the moon lasts the longest, Selûne created the tall and beautiful elves. Greatly saddend by the fall of the Kalashtar, Selûne sought to create a people of compassion and love who would not turn on their brothers. Thus the elves were born in song under the moonlight and with the essence of the Faewild, their first memory is of the Moon Mother singing to them of the loss of her firstborn children and of the virtues they must follow to avoid this fate. She taught them of the beauty of moonlight and its reflection of nature, she taught them joy and compassion. It is for this reason that elven cities are always entwined with nature and the Fae.

    The Birth of the Dwarves
    Cultural event

Amaunator created the dwarves near the tallest mountains. After the fall of the Kalashtar order was lost and the lands, once green, were now covered in blood and ash. Wishing to start anew Amaunator taught his new dwarves how to carve order for themselves within the mountains and create vast civlizations underground. For many generations, the dwarves built and grew under these mountains until the day the lands began to renew. Curious they left their mountain plains and found their neighbours to be the Dragonborn, whom themselves had built vast cities above ground. From that day the two races have had a friendly riveralry about who are the best builders.

    The Finding of the Firbolg
    Cultural event

If you asked a Firbolg where his people came from he will tell you a story of the humble giant druids. Long ago a group of stone giants grew tired of dark caverns and unchanging mountains. This group took their families and left the mountains in search of something better. For years they wondered at night with nothing to guide them but the light of the moon, then one day the giants came across a hidden glen with a beautiful waterfall in the center and a large open sky filled with stars, and at the center, the moon was the biggest they had ever seen. The stone giants were so awed by its beauty that they came to the waterfall and drank from the water, then their leader asked the moon who she was and why she had brought them there. The moon revealed herself to be the Maiden and She Who Guides, she told them that she saw them lost and wandering and sought to guide them to Purpose. She brought them to this glen so they may find rest and live here in peace. The stone Giants were beyond grateful, for they felt this was the calling that led them out of the mountains, the begged the Maiden for her blessings for they wished to be stone giants no longer. The Moonmaiden was pleased with them and so sent a drop of moonlight into the waterfall and said that any who drank from it would be changed in her name. Thus the Firbolg were born and changed into druids of the Moonmaiden and though some leave as she directs, most remain to protect the Glen of the Moon.

    The Birth of the Gnomes
    Cultural event

Mystra has always seen the Weave as her greatest responsibility and had never sought worship outside of those who wielded magic. Yet when the Kalashtar fell, so too did the use of the Weave save for a few creatures whose bodies were blended with it. Yet as time past the Gnomes surprised Mystra, for they not only learned how to wield magic they also learned how to craft with it. They built great machines and cities that used magic in new and surprising ways. For this reason, Mystra keeps her distance from the Gnomish peoples and gives them freedom to create for enjoys watching them and she awaits the day they will take magic further then even the Kalashtar had.

    The Rising of the Goliath
    Cultural event

The giants of old have been around from the beginning of Aerios, even before the Kalashtar. No one is certain which or if the deities of Purpose created them, what is known is there was a time when the giants were allies with the Kalashtar. In this time great friendships were formed and some created attachments beyond this. Thus the race known as the Goliaths were born and became a permanent bridge between these two. When the Kalashtar began fighting among themselves, the goliaths and giants were torn as to whom to support, for both had become family. A handful joined in the fighting, but most removed themselves and retreated to their homes in the mountains. When the years passed and the Kalashtar destroyed themselves, the giants wept for their passing and swore to never again grow attached to mortals. Yet the Goliaths could not accept that all of their Kalashtar parents had died and so the tribes left in search of them. Today Goliaths remain nomadic, but they like to settle near villages where they trade their strong fighting ability for goods and medicine. Some tribes also contain Kalashtar, the few who remained after the fall of the empire. Collectively the Goliaths do not follow any one of the deities but more see them as a whole, the deities of their Kalashtar forebearers, yet some tribes have been known to follow the beliefs of the nearby villages more closely.

    The Birth of the Halflings
    Cultural event

There is a reason Halflings are considered lucky and it's because of their creator Deneir. Similar to Mystra, Deneir was not interested in worshippers with grand rituals and large clergies. What he desired were curious people who loved adventure and were curious above all. Thus the Halflings were created to be simple people with simple desires, they enjoy hearth and home, love to read and explore and many take up adventuring to see the world that surrounds them. Through this adventurous spirit, they have met the other races of the world and gained a reputation as friendly and trustworthy. The Halflings have a special place in the heart of Deneir and have remained his most beloved race.

    The Birth of Humanity
    Cultural event

Xan Yae is the goddess of balance and death. She watched as her fellow Purpose deities created races in their images, each serving a different purpose according to the needs of their deity. Yet Xan Yae was disappointed in all of them, for none of them seemed to create a balance between the deities most simply were an extension of will. So Xan Yae created humanity a short-lived, average-sized race of individuals who modeled no one, not even herself. Their one trait was freedom, the freedom to choose to be anyone, to worship any deity, to live in a city, to wield any power. Some were smart and others laymen, some were greedy and others generous, some were ambitious and others lazy. In all things humanity was balanced and could take on the traits of any of the other peoples, they came across.

    The Birth of the Tabaxi
    Cultural event

If you believe the old tales then the Tabaxi were born because Deneir once had a cat that he loved very much, she was curious and mischievous and beautiful. Deneir would take her anywhere he went and she loved to explore Aerios and beyond with him. Then one day she was injured defending Deneir from an attack from Shar's minions. Once the fight was over Deneir's beloved cat lay dying before him and he could not save her, yet before she died he gathered up her soul and blew it into the deserts of Aerios for those were her favorite lands and thus the Tabaxi were born. Of course, many of the priests of Deneir deny this story as their texts have never mentioned Deneir having a cat nor do the Tabaxi nobles like repeating this so-called fable for it implies their creation was nothing more than a lament for a cherished pet. Yet most common Tabaxi love this story and take it as the truth as they say it's proof that Deneir loves them the most. In truth, the origin of the Tabaxi is a bit of a mystery as few enjoy spending time as scholars, and most history is passed down through word of mouth. Yet Deneir's influence on the Tabaxi cannot be denied as they are one of the most curious and adventurous races in Aerios.

    The Adoption of Tieflings
    Cultural event

The Tieflings were created as a mockery of the Purpose races. The combination of mortals and demons, most were begotten through slaves and hidden love affairs for power. Eventually, these people caught the eye of the Purpose deities who were angry with the Opposition's interference with their peoples. These orphaned children wandered Aerios with no one willing to take them in or allow them to enter the cities. For a while, many lived in dark forests and became druids of evil others joined the cults of their demonic forefathers. That is until Selûne learned of the Tieflings and their mistreatment. The goddess of compassion she ordered her followers to find Tieflings and make them feel welcome in their homes. In time the Tieflings grew to see followers of Selûne as friends and many migrated to her cities, later they would also begin following Mystra as Selûne showed her their potential for magic. To this day Tieflings are little more than tolerated in places outside Selûne and Mystra's influence, but in places under their protection, the Tieflings are seen adopted brothers and sisters of Purpose.

    The Last of the Kalashtar
    Cultural event

The Kalashtar were once the only children of the deities, beloved, nurtured, and protected the only thing that could destroy the Kalashtar was themselves. This was their unfortunate fate and the people were so utterly destroyed that much of their history is lost and their culture is nothing more than ruins. Yet there are still Kalashtar alive today and they still carry the spark of Purpose, though they are no longer the favorites they once were. Those Kalashtar alive today only have vague and obscure histories of their former glory passed from one generation to another. These people tend to stay away from civilization as some revere them as the firstborn of creation and others see them as a curse upon Aerios. For this reason, they live in hidden villages near the old ruins of their empire and yet others who seek protection will join the tribes of the Goliaths. Kalashtar look a lot like humans and thus attempt to blend in as such, yet their otherworldly beauty and their connection to the spirit world can sometimes cause them to be discovered.
