Psionic

Psionics is a school of Magic often known as 'negative magic' for the manner of its action. Unlike traditional Magic psionics does not use arcanum to power its usage. Instead the powers that use it draw on a connection with the void altering the fabrics of reality.
Psionics is considered a great rarity in Aesalia with its primary users being the Illithid and their creations. The few mer who claim its power do so often as a result of meeting the aforementioned creatures and have varying levels of understanding.
Psionics is often described as using the negative space of the world to cause effect. Where as magic alters what exists psionics alters what does not causing a similar effect that is often invisible or visible in a way that can confuse, disorientate or distress its targets.
