Hanged Elf Tavern
"Ton'lain Eimat" or the "Vault of Todar" was a library of great knowledge, filled with tomes from the time of the Empire. During the Empires fall, the village of Calindrel was raided by Hast and his northern forces. Set upon, Calindrel was abandoned and burnt to ruin - save for the library. The reasons for are lost. Some say Hast spared the Vault of Todar, for its knowledge was beauty to him. Others claim that Todar descended from above to place a shield upon the great structure. The outcome though, is the same. Ton'lain Eimat survived into the modern day, though it's purpose for being has shifted.
A massive building made of marble and stone, the once elegantly crafted marble pillars have faded into a cracked and cream colour ring of supports. The stone is an ancient tan colour, supporting a massive domed structure - while the front has a large forward wing. Ancient carvings can still be gleamed on the pillars and large stone walls, though much of the detail has faded with age. These depict the ancient history of the Pale Elves. From their exit from the Fey, to the rise of the Empire. Though its fall goes unrecorded.
In modern day, the village of Calindrel is lost, replaced by the Fold. The Fold is a trade point and rest stop for the various groups within the Lordless Lands. And the great library has become a Tavern - the Hanged Elf. Inside, is a huge domed structure - the ceiling painted with a mural of the Elves fighting off the Fey, First Emperor Thyadraer at the forefront, holding his fallen brother and commanding a fight with the Lord of Horns, Henneth. Under this dome is a trio of ringed levels of various book shelves, supported by carved marble pillars.
At the center of the structure, what was once a place for reading and study has become a place of merriment and drinking. Tables, some as old as the library, are splayed out. An old book shelf has been repurpsed to hold liquor, and the desk for a secretary or librarian has become a bar. Framed upon it is the deed for the Hanged Elf, a document that magically changes once every 5 years to the name of a patron currently within the structure. Ancient automata, various magical servants, and some small paper drakes are all the command of the Hanged Elfs owner. Beneath the tavern was once storage for books, but has since been moved aside for kegs of ale.
The Hanged Elf also functions as the town hall for the Fold, a meeting point. It's owner a defacto mayor.
