The Fold
The Fold is a tent village, built up of travellers and traders moving through the Lordless Lands. It's more of a large camp that gains just as many people entering it as it does those leaving to continue on their routes. The Fold isn't actually the name of the settlement itself, but the name of the valley in which it resides - though the name is often prescribed to the tent village since it was never given a true name. There are some standing structures in the fold, in particular the remains of an old imperial era village. Many of the buildings are partial rebuilds of these structures, creating a small village where the few traders who live permanently in the Fold reside.
The Hanged Elf, a tavern built into the ruins of an old Imperial library, works as a "town hall" of sorts and the owner of it has quite a bit of power over the Fold. However, this owner is chosen seemingly at random - every 5 years the deed hung up on the wall will have the name of the owner change to someone currently in the tavern, granting them control of it.
Demographics
As a trading outpost and camp town, the Fold is extremely diverse.
Government
The Fold has no real government structure, but the owner of the Hanged Elf does have a bit of power in terms of deciding things, such as small squables.
