The Anazhar Clan (Anna-zar)

Blood of the Dragon King...   Despite his personal hatred of Das Anazhar and his progeny, Sur Daggur and his clan tried to claim the title of Dragon King for themselves, but staunch opponents and bitter critics instead call him the Dragon Tyrant. Thangiens still refer to Das Anazhar as the "Noble Dragon King of old" and view his descendants much the same way. Mal Daggur continues his father's mission to try and scour these accomplishments from the minds of Thunthen on the Homeworld, but the name of Das Anazhar still inspires heroic reverence in both Dasphati in the Redali System and Thangiens in Bainshaebo. The decision to abandon conquest of Thanged was not a fluke or a mistake, but a necessary shift in philosophy Mal Daggur tries desperately to stop, but Takshi Anazhar carries on, knowing a new way of thinking is necessary for the Thunthen to survive on the Stellar Stage.

Structure

Led by he patriarch of the clan. If the father falls to old age, sickness, or death by combat, the eldest of the clan-clutch assumes leadership.

Notable Members

Takshi Anazhar

-Current patriarch and Highlord of the Sons-in-Exile.
Bak Thraplek
-Great-grand nephew of Takshi's. Leader of the Dissidents currently operating on Earth.

Culture

A tight-knit group comprised of one central family and various satellite clans. For example Bak Thraplek is a direct descendant but used his dam's clan-name as an alias to escape persecution on the Homeworld. The Anazhar Clan ruled the Thunthen for many millennia before being violently deposed by the Daggur Clan. They adhere to the philosophy of peaceful exploration and expansion practiced by Das Anazhar rather than forceful conquest and subjugation favored by Sur Daggur and Mal Daggur.

Public Agenda

The personal goal of the clan since the Dragon King's era remains expanding ways of thinking beyond simple brute force and survival. Much the way a crow partners with a wolf to share the spoils of a kill, the Anazhar Clan seek mutually beneficial terms between other parties, but meet any aggression with fierce hostility.

Assets

On top of the vast phergon stockpile seized by Takshi, the clan and their numerous families and satellite clans boast a number of warriors, scientists, and engineers that helped shape the new dwellings in the Redali System. Takshi's many siblings and sons commanded various ships in the evacuation fleet.

History

(See Thangien History: The Dragon King and the Queen and Thunthen History: The Dasphat Revolution)

“Australa…who’s that supposed to be?” he nodded at the image of a large bulky form leaning forward in a reverent bow with what looked to be long white claws splayed and a long tail ending in a spiked club curling about the legs. A beard of grayish fibers hung from the lower jaw of the blocky muzzle. A pair of horns curled up from the back of the head, and many spikes protruded from behind the shoulders and neck.  That is Das Anazhar. He was the commander who challenged Danaetanera and followed at her side during the Bloodwalk. He is the only Thunthen whose likeness is preserved with honor and the only Noble who could truly be called such…”

The Anazhar clan had mostly humble beginnings until the ascension of the young Nobeyl Das Anazhar. Ridiculed for his unconventional ways of thinking, he nonetheless proved himself the better of any challenger, taking the title of Supreme High Overlord and spurring an industrial revolution in preparation for expansion. Hoping to secure neighboring Planet Thanged as a vassal-world, he thought he could humble the Thangien Watch-Rider and instead himself walked away humbled.   As a gesture of goodwill and contrition, he visited the newly completed Tomb of Danaetanera III and presented gifts of obsidian to Danaetanera's daughter and successor, Queen Alahaedra. The two formed a blood-pact that one day true peace would be forged between their peoples.   Departing on good terms, he abandoned plans for expansion in the Thurukian System and sent his forces led by members of his clan-clutch abroad to other systems such as the broken Traghdoashin System and the far-off Redali System. They found only fragments of a dead civilization of the Traghdoash, but in the denizens of Redal IX they found friends and allies and a potential new home if the worst should come to pass.

“Are you familiar with the story of Das Anazhar?”   “Name rings a bell…” Ryo squinted, vaguely remembering that Mal Daggur had mentioned it.   “He was a Thunthen warlord that lived over three thousand years ago. He was just as vicious as Mal Daggur and he challenged Thanged’s queen at the time, one of Danae’s ancestors. He called off his attack out of respect when she sacrificed herself for her people. He showed compassion and wisdom, something you don’t hear a lot of from other Thunthen.

Following the Dasphat Revolution, a mass-exodus led by Takshi Anazhar found purchase in the Redali System far beyond the reach or concerns of Sur Daggur. Branded Dasphati as a pejorative by the Daggur Clan, members of the Anazhar Clan and their many followers have united to call themselves the Sons-in-Exile with the Anazhar Clan at its head. Rather than squander precious resources on staging an entrenched resistance or guerrilla warfare, the Anazhar Clan focuses its concerns on establishing better living conditions for Thunthen and quelling aggression from the denizens of Redal III.   One hundred years later Takshi still serves as both leader of the Sons and patriarch of the Anazhar Clan. All of his siblings have since perished whether from sickness, old age, or combat, but he has had many sons, and his family has grown quite large thanks to the new practice of monogamous marriage rather than single clutches through matrons. Both a warm but stern grandfatherly figure and a fearsome, formidable leader, he is viewed as the living embodiment of the Dragon King's philosophies. The Sword of Deres is viewed as a clan heirloom, a reminder of the promise made thousands of years ago between the Dragon King and Thanged's Queen.

Our Blood as Red as Yours

“So imagine our surprise when we ventured forth, intent on settling our verdant sister world, when we discovered a burgeoning race of thin-limbed, soft-skinned mammals. Imagine our shock when those same soft-skins managed to stymie our efforts to colonize.” The lips curled in a sneer and the eyes narrowed. “Imagine our rage when the spineless coward Das Anazhar committed the unfathomable sin of showing pity to the woman who called herself Queen!"-Mal Daggur

Reluctant to commit to full-scale planetary colonization despite the existance of suitable worlds in the system, the Dragons cling to the hope they can one day reclaim the Homeworld.

“You could switch sides, like Bak and his crew, or like that other guy; Das Anazhar.”   “*Pfft*. The Thangiens highly romanticized the account…” Plaedarr sniffed. “Das Anazhar didn’t withdraw out of the ‘goodness of his heart’. No… he foresaw destruction for both races. I think deep down he believed the Thangiens would make better allies than enemies…”
