Athena Voidsbane

female tiefling neutral eldritch knight fighter / amethyst dragon sorcerer

Athena is the oldest child of the fugitive known throughout the multiverse as the Voidsbane. Since her family was scattered to the cosmic winds, she has lived a solitary life staying under the radar as best she could. Consequently, she became very guarded and secretive.   The exceptions to her solitary life were twofold. She was always drawn to the arcane and took up tutelage under another Brallian living in disguise; an emerald dragon named Emrick. Under the dragon's guidance, the tiefling woman learned the ways of sorcery. She grew in power and became a close friend of the dragon. So much so that one time, she broke the promise she had made to her father nearly two decades prior and confided in the dragon about her origin. Fortunately, her trust in Emrick has proven well-founded.   Additionally, Athena was and remains always observant of any news or rumor pertaining to her kin. In the two decades since he split up his kin to keep them safe, Malbar has contacted Athena just twice. So it came as a great surprise when her youngest brother Malako appeared in her own back yard figuratively speaking. She deigned to contact her sibling with consequential results.

Athena's Description and Mannerisms

In her actual and original form, Athena stands five and a half feet in height. She has similar skin, eyes, and hair that all the Voidsbane's kin do, though her skin is more on the green side and her hair closer to indigo than purple. Her waist-long hair she typically wears loose. Her horns are also the same charcoal color and "V" shape as her father and brothers . These emanate from just above her eyes and flowing backwards over her hair. Likewise, her tail is smooth and ends in a simple tip.   She has gained some differences in appearance due to her sorcerous origin. Her shoulders and the outsides of her arms, down to near her wrists are covered in twinkling, forest-green scales akin to her mentor, Emrick. She has these, but much smaller and to less of a degree on her face too, above and to the outsides of her eyes.

Personal history

The Voidsbane

The fellsworn known as Malbar came to be called the Voidsbane and to be a cosmic fugitive because of his revolt against the Doomguard and their ethos. Before he turned coat, Malbar had become a high-ranking member of the faction and had been entrusted with some of its more closely guarded secrets. But he grew disillusioned with the faction and particularly a splinter group of it called the Voidbringers.   Malbar knew his change of heart and mind and his subsequent revolution put not only him but his entire brood in danger. So he made preparations to protect his kin. Unfortunately, these did not come in time to save his mate, Kallista. A Doomguard assassin discovered Malbar's hideout and, in their escape, Kallista was killed.   Once he felt they were safe again, Malbar brought his plans to hide his family to fruition. He used magic to cloud the memory of all three of his sons and then agents allied to him to scatter these to the vast reaches of the multiverse. His eldest, a daughter, he let keep all memory but swore her to secrecy. He advised her to forever live in disguise and to live somewhere she would fit in without being asked too many questions. So he took her to Bral.

Alec and Athena

When Melvin the Collector struck the deal with the Powers Company to fetch the Staff of the Night King, he did as he always did. He covered all his bases and planned for every possible contingency to ensure the party would honor their side of the agreement in the unlikely event they succeeded.   During their short time on Bral, Melvin had his countless agents learn as much as they could about the group. In doing so, Melvin recognized that the tiefling Malako was possibly kin of the Voidsbane. He already knew of a member of the infamous family living on Bral in disguise. He had his agents follow the woman named Athena and sure enough, he confirmed the relation when she made contact with the party.   Melvin also learned that the well-known bard and spacefarer, Alec Villensen had been in contact with the group. This plus his resemblance to the human woman, Meline compelled Melvin to conclude there was a relation there as well. So he put out word to his seemingly limitless network that he would pay a handsome reward for the bard and it was fortuitous for Melvin that Alec's ship was bound for Bral at the time anyway.   While the party made their way to the Brallian Ice Caverns, Melvin had his agents capture Athena and subsequently imprisoned her. He did likewise with Alec and the two Powers Company relatives were imprisoned together. These machinations ultimately allowed Melvin to force the party into keeping to the deal they had struck. And after he thought he had scattered the party to the cosmic winds, Melvin decided to hold on to his two prisoners until he could think of some other way he could use them.   Alec and Athena were imprisoned in Melvin's dungeon for several months. During that time, they grew to be friends and then more than that. By the time Melvin was killed by a jilted business associate in an incredible battle involving powerful devils and wizards, the two prisoners were devoted to each other.   The pair used their newfound freedom to immediately start looking for their kin. Unfortunately, they could get no leads on the Malako or Meline despite their combined and prodigious arcane abilities. They even turned to others on the Rock to try and locate them or the other members of the Powers Company. A couple of months of searching yielded no results, however.   They then decided instead to try and find their way to Azocar and it was quite fortuitous when they learned before too long that a ship hailing from that world had docked on Bral. Alec and Athena sought this ship out and found it was called the Dragon's Wing. They quickly booked passage on the Wing's return trip to Azocar and were jubilant hours into the journey that the ship's crew was already quite familiar with those they sought.
