Alec was born into relative poverty under the shadows of the Ice Lords near the Elysian city of Everland. Despite their meager status, his family was content and he had a happy childhood. He did all that was expected of someone of his station. He worked the farms of his homeland for little reward from when he was old enough to do so. When he came of age, he married a young farmgirl and the two started a family of their own.
When the Hordes came, Alec left his wife and six children behind and went off to fight. He was involved in the disastrous First Battle of Southgate and was presumed killed in the fight. Alec was grievously wounded in the fight but he was rescued by a hermit living in the southern fringes of the High Moor. The hermit nursed him back to health and Alec recovered and returned to the fighting.
Unbeknownst to him, word of his death had been sent back to his family. So, when he returned to his homeland and learned that many of poor farm villages in the area had fled east at the start of the war, he had no idea that his family already believed him dead. He was heartbroken to learn that many died in that first winter and among these were his entire family.
Alec had nothing left for him in his homeland so he left for good. He returned to his last place he was stationed during the wars; Westport. There he took up with some foreigners on their special sailing ship. He was at first surprised then awestruck and finally at home after he learned that the crew were what are called "spelljammers". He earned his keep first as a deckhand but eventually as an entertainer and emissary for the crew of the starship and remained a traveler of wild space thereafter.
Descriptions and Mannerisms
Alec still sports a full head of dirty-blond hair with no signs of graying despite his near 50 years of life. He wears his hair past shoulder length and he keeps this bound in a single ponytail. His trademark Elysian pale skin is still smooth and wrinkle-free and only blemished by the scars he earned during the Great Wars. All of this combined with his easy-going demeanor and bright green eyes means he hardly looks his age. His career as a spacefarer following the wars has been very lucrative and Alec has grown to enjoy the finer things. As a result, he likes to dress well and is given to precious things. He's hardly self-involved, however. Quite the contrary, Alec remembers where he came from and he's always happy to help the less fortunate if he can. During his post-war years, Alec educated himself. He already had a gift for gab and his newfound literacy moved him in the direction of becoming a storyteller. He has thus gained the ability to captivate entire rooms with his poetic orations and musical whims.Mental characteristics

Alec and Athena
When Melvin the Collector struck the deal with the Powers Company to fetch the Staff of the Night King, he did as he always did. He covered all his bases and planned for every possible contingency to ensure the party would honor their side of the agreement in the unlikely event they succeeded. During their short time on Bral, Melvin had his countless agents learn as much as they could about the group. In doing so, Melvin recognized that the tiefling Malako was possibly kin of the Voidsbane. He already knew of a member of the infamous family living on Bral in disguise. He had his agents follow the woman named Athena and sure enough, he confirmed the relation when she made contact with the party. Melvin also learned that the well-known bard and spacefarer, Alec Villensen had been in contact with the group. This plus his resemblance to the human woman, Meline compelled Melvin to conclude there was a relation there as well. So he put out word to his seemingly limitless network that he would pay a handsome reward for the bard and it was fortuitous for Melvin that Alec's ship was bound for Bral at the time anyway. While the party made their way to the Brallian Ice Caverns, Melvin had his agents capture Athena and subsequently imprisoned her. He did likewise with Alec and the two Powers Company relatives were imprisoned together. These machinations ultimately allowed Melvin to force the party into keeping to the deal they had struck. And after he thought he had scattered the party to the cosmic winds, Melvin decided to hold on to his two prisoners until he could think of some other way he could use them. Alec and Athena were imprisoned in Melvin's dungeon for several months. During that time, they grew to be friends and then more than that. By the time Melvin was killed by a jilted business associate in an incredible battle involving powerful devils and wizards, the two prisoners were devoted to each other. The pair used their newfound freedom to immediately start looking for their kin. Unfortunately, they could get no leads on the Malako or Meline despite their combined and prodigious arcane abilities. They even turned to others on the Rock to try and locate them or the other members of the Powers Company. A couple of months of searching yielded no results, however. They then decided instead to try and find their way to Azocar and it was quite fortuitous when they learned before too long that a ship hailing from that world had docked on Bral. Alec and Athena sought this ship out and found it was called the Dragon's Wing. They quickly booked passage on the Wing's return trip to Azocar and were jubilant hours into the journey that the ship's crew was already quite familiar with those they sought.Relationships
