Tiarnan Flendaris
General Tiarnan Flendaris
Tiarnan is the Lascyan General of Intelligence. He coordinates all scouting reports and is responsible for gathering intelligence and advising the Queen on strategy. The most major organization under his jurisdiction is the Windriders, but he also manages other teams of ground scouts and spies that operate within Lascyan cities. He is one of the Queen's closest advisors and answers directly to her, wielding near-absolute authority.
Tiarnan himself, is known to be a cold, calculating man. He has a reputation for being relentless in his duties and ruthless in the pursuit of threats both internal and external. He knows that part of his job is to put people into danger, or even ask them to die, for the sake of the job, and as such he puts quite a bit of professional distance between himself and his subordinates. There are many that would call him paranoid, though none that would be bold or stupid enough to say so to his face.
Physical Description
General Physical Condition
Tiarnan wears a permanent scowl. He is stately, dignified but makes no attempt to hide his constant suspicion of those around him. Years of war have taken their toll on his body and while he does his best to maintain himself, an old wound has left him with a permanent limp. Tiarnan dresses as well as his position dictates and maintains his personal hygiene meticulously as to appear without weakness. He is never seen in public with even a single hair out of place and carries himself with a sort of superiority that intimidates others before he even has a chance to speak. When he does speak, his voice is sharp and impatient.

Personal history
Tiarnan was on of the original Elves that came to Aheila in the year 215. He had left his family and friend behind to joint he expedition, eager for adventure and to spread the influence of the Sky Elves. At that time, he was a young up and coming soldier in the army full of optimism and excitement. Reality gave him a very rude awakening. He witnessed first hand the discrimination against the Sky Elves in Vesmos. When they left to the Howling Plains, he hoped they would finally have a place to call their own, but it was not to be. The Sky Elves were unprepared for the brutality of the hordes of the Howling Plains. Over the next fifteen years, Tiarnan fought in the grueling war of attrition, where he lost many close friends. When the Elves finally fled into the The Razor's Edge, Tiarnan was filled with shame that the expedition had turned into such a complete failure.
When the Elves established the country of Lasceye, most focused defensively, preferring to hole up in their fortress-city of Atheneris and hope for the best, but Tiarnan was an avid proponent for a more aggressive approach. He campaigned relentlessly for scouting forces, urging the importance of information in the construction of an effective defensive strategy. At last, his protests were answered, and he was given a small group of scouts to lead. For decades, this was the only intelligence force Lasceye had, but time and time again they showed their value, bringing early warning when an attack from the Howling Plains might be mounted or if there was a dangerous creature in the area. Slowly, he was given more and more men to command. When the Windriders turned out their first batch of trained agents, Tiarnan was granted an official title and placed in charge of managing all intelligence reports.
Since then, Tiarnan's influence has only grown. Queen-General Morgaine Lafont relied on him as her advisor, and Queen-General Ghillain Avecire has continued to favor him. He has generally avoided making close connections with anyone and has no family or close friends. And while he is not generally well-liked, he is very highly respected by all members of Lascyan society.
Education
As a mere soldier, Tiarnan had very little formal education. He was taught to read and write and given a basic instruction in the religion of his people, but other than that, Tiarnan has almost nothing in the way of schooling. He has done extensive reading on his own about history and strategy but is entirely self-taught.
Morality & Philosophy
Tiarnan is an extremely mistrustful man. He believes that it his duty to be suspicious of everyone so that the Queen does not have to. Having been harrowed by his journey thus far in Aheila, Tiarnan has seen some of the worst that the world has to offer him and it has left him bitter and jaded. He holds a particular hatred for Vesomites and continues to view them as the enemy. He fears the threat of the Howling Plains and feels it is only a matter of time before the two forces will clash again. He believes strongly that Lasceye must prepare to fight an inevitable war on two fronts, with Vesmos to the south and the The Howling Plains to the west.
Personality Characteristics
Motivation
Tiarnan's primary goal is to make the expedition to Aheila worth something. He wants to make the losses of his friends mean something. He wants Lasceye to be the major power in Aheila so that his people can live in comfort and security. He specifically seeks to recapture the Howling Plains and eventually launch an attach on Vesmos.
Virtues & Personality perks
Tiarnan is nearly unshakable, having lived through hundreds of years of struggle and tragedy. He is ruthlessly calculating, which makes him very good at his job, even if it does not earn him any friends, and he is able to see the bigger picture and strategize accordingly.
Vices & Personality flaws
Tiarnan is by no means a likeable man. He is stern, uncompromising, and generally unkind. He is excessively paranoid and at times sees threats where none exist. Paired with the immense power he wields, his suspicious nature has ruined the lives of many innocents. He believes in Elven superiority so vehemently that he can barely tolerate the company of Half-Elves, viewing them as abominations.
