Oshal
The desert country of Oshal is largely a wasteland with few settlements placed throughout. The few settlements that are there are ruled by the yuan ti, a serpent race that runs the country much more like a large cult that spreads across a landmass, worshipping the gods of the Banished Pantheon. Much like their northern neighbouring country of Kingdom of Salardia, Oshal is a dangerous land that had once encompassed the Deadlands to the west, until the land itself went from simply difficult to live in to visibly toxic, with the very air being hazardous to breathe.
Humans and other races native to the now Cursed Lands have begun arriving in Oshal, having not been a part of The Martian Empire or the Valkans, hoping to find a new home. Instead, many were captured and enslaved by the yuan ti, with the few that managed to navigate the country without encountering the Oshal natives forming makeshift homes out of ruins. Eventually, many would move on from Oshal, instead travelling to the haven of The Tirmari Archipelago or Alderhardt.
Culture
The yuan-ti have a culture and religion based around slavery and sacrifice. They predominately worship Szezechcentoryl, the first Reptile, who often demands blood sacrifices in exchange for power, which is different to many other deities where worship and following their example in life is enough. No one knows why they collect slaves, although some do theorise that yuan-ti are not natural beings, needing to infect others into becoming yuan-ti, rather than biologically producing them.
Assets
The armies of the yuan-ti seems to be endless. The raiding of the towns of other countries never seems to end, and the use of Stone Shaping Serpent allow them to travel across vast distances with unparalleled speed. This, along with their unorthodox fortresses, which they use as slave camps to house captives for nefarious purposes, they are both impossible to predict and extremely difficult to combat. No one truly knows about their true military might, with many being too afraid to find out.
History
The lands of Oshal used to be owned by the kalashtar of The Old Oshal Empire, but the invading yuan-ti drove them out, either enslaving those that could not flee, or leaving the survivors to live out their lives in exodus. They turned the glorious cities of the old civilisation to ruins, using the deserts as the heart of their operation to enslave the other mortals of The Continent in the name of their patron god, making an enemy of all those that they chose to raid.
