Alderhardt
As the largest country in The Continent, being at the very heart of the landmass, Alderhardt is seen as somewhat of a superpower, given its population, military power and overall wealth. Although it is predominantly known for its human population, being filled with the only humans native to The Continent, Alderhardt is known for taking in many mixed species, such as half orcs, genasi and half elves. Despite this, the country has quite the mix of different races, going so far as to have a city (Valenrouse) known for its elven population. Excluding the war with the yuan-ti of Oshal, Alderhardt has relatively good relationships with most countries, having no outstanding issues with even the war hungry nations of Valka and Martéa.
Currently, the country is in a strange state of limbo, once again preparing to march onto the sand of Oshal, attempting to repair the damaged alliances with The Ithryl Woods and Knaeva, lacking enemies and true allies. With a new ruler comes a slight panic among the people, as they anticipate the change to come, with many of the more local rulers, such as earls and lords, attempting to consolidate their power, no matter the cost.
Culture
Religiously, Alderhardt is very much a country that worships Pantheon of Elysium, with many choosing to worship the pantheon's leader, Afrid, the Goddess of Life. This is most evident with the city of Strobenheim being run by six different bishops that worship the pantheon to near zealously. Other than religion, Alderhardt was always been seen by many as a cultral 'norm', with many who have no culture of their own to full back to often adopting these customs, such as using a ring as a mark of proposal for marriage.
Assets
There are two many military units that Alderhardt is known for. The Knights of Alderhardt and The Arms of Elysium, each with a champion that is an Heir of the Storm, making them both feared and renowned. Outside of this, they are known for having the largest military, in terms of numbers, on The Continent, often encouraging many to become soldiers, having a culture that very much idolises their military. Magic, although not as prominent in use as many of the elven realms, is still quite the asset for the Heartlanders, giving them much needed versatility.
History
Centuries ago, Alderhardt was simply six city states: Kitzstadt, Strale, Kronburg, Dunport, Valenrouse and Lichtenhower, each ruled by an independent king. After the fall of The Old Oshal Empire and the invasion of the yuan-ti, the kings united under the king of Kitzstadt, after allegedly receiving a premonition of their downfall from Afrid, the Goddess of Life, founding the city Strobenheim to mark the new alliance. Ever since then, the country has remained together, forever ruled by the king or queen of Kitzstadt, led in unity against the yuan-ti of Oshal.
