Session 12
Session Date: April 24, 2020
General Summary
Once we came to terms with the fact that we were stuck on the CORE everyone in the Wu-Tang Clan went about their business while we awaited for something to happen that would allow us to leave. Some of us trained whilst others did research reading their books. On occasion the others approached me to learn more about my past and how I came to be in the situation in which they found me. I don’t know if they’re beginning to take to me but I am simply grateful to have been freed. PROSPECTOR Also has been asking all of us about the material plane, finding much about us and our world fascinating.
It wasn’t all fun and games however. Every few days to a week groups of Formians would show up and attack us. Nothing that our capable group couldn’t handle but it certainly made clear the need for fortifications. Eventually PIP returned but was entirely surprised to find us still there. He’s not the easiest to communicate with but we managed to get a portal to take us back to the Red Ruby Tavern. Before we leave however the one named Moses fronted coin for PROSPECTOR to begin constructing walls and fortifications so we can establish a base of operations on the CORE. Additionally PIP handed each one of us a gear with which he claims he can locate us should we need it? Time will tell.
Upon arriving back on the material plane the group was keen to hand in their contract and claim their payment. The dragon Lakota informed us that to do so we must travel to the capital Faf du Plessis. Before setting out we head into the familiar tavern to find it empty except for Darsys who was confused and shocked by our appearance. We speak briefly and establish that time on the CORE must pass differently than on the material plane for Darsys informs us that 3 years have passed since the others left on their contract and they are now being hunted for MURDER. We also learn that the city has essentially been shut down, the lack of adventurers coming through effectively making it a ghost town. Just as we settle into a booth to discuss our next steps (Lakota using his dragon magic to phase into the tavern through the outside wall) a group of 6 silver-masked, green-cloaked individuals enter. The charming Lothar tried some trickery to extract any information he could from the group. While that happened Darsys came over to speak with us and though my skills are rusty I picked up the thieve’s cant she was using to tell us to head east out of the city past the mountains.
After managing to sneak back outside we split the party to continue gathering whatever information we could before fleeing the city. While Moses and I headed to the Training Ground the others went to find this Xepug who apparently had given them the contract. Moses and I found the Training Grounds boarded up and closed. We searched the outside of the premises while waiting for the rest of our party. Once they returned (with a massive goliath) we managed to find side door where a soothsayer Vaarta had taken up shop. The rest of the group recognized her from their previous adventures. Upon seeing us she says “I’ve been waiting for you”. One by one we use the opportunity to pick at her magical knowledge. However, when Trissandra asked about The Twelve that the Satyr had spoken of she became quite antsy and immediately fled in apparent fear. We moved on where the goliath, Shimron, told us to wait while he went to fetch Xepug. Upon their return both parties were caught up on what had transpired. Moses in his hot-headed, brash self denounced Xepug leading to an ultimatum: we receive payment for the contract or he helps us out of the city. We choose the latter.
The following morning a cart appears at the house we were hiding in that was to take us out of the city. We had agreed to stop at the Ziggurat of Pelor so that the cleric could address her broken relic. Having grown up a street urchin I was never one for religion and the gods so I was a touch lost and out of place as I accompanied her inside. She spoke with Alberic the Stranger and received a temporary relic until she could return home and address the lost connection of her old one. We left the temple and piled back into the cart to leave the city. This is where it all came apart at the seams. Xepug betrayed us. We found ourselves outside the Glass Castle surrounded by 20-30 guards on the ground and 10-15 on flying mounts. In a last ditch attempt to escape this ambush Moses and Trissandra pulled the magical windows from their robes to fall through the floor of the cart, through the street, hopefully into a sewer below but that was not in our fates. We were captured, stripped of our gear and thrown in cells. The following morning we are brought before Lady Elenna for judgement. Finally we learn that the group is being charged with the murder of the Fat Deacon of Pice. The prosecution, another silver masked individual wearing a dragon mask, presents the evidence against us. Regardless of how we plead our case it fell on deaf ears and we were deemed guilty, punishable by death, to be carried out on the first day of the new season by being thrown in The Pit…
