Mischief and Mettle

In Bridgeport's aristocratic circles, a unique game of prank and dare has become a favorite pastime. This whimsical tradition, known as "Mischief and Mettle," involves participants daring each other to execute elaborate pranks or accept challenging dares. The stakes are high: if the prank fails or the prankster is found out by the pranked, they must face consequences, often in the form of a rather humbling forfeiture.   The game kicks off at one of the grand estates or at the Good Times Society Headquarters, where the ladies gather, filled with laughter and anticipation. They pass around a small wooden box packed with rolled-up slips of parchment, each containing a dare, a name, or a blank. Each lady draws a slip. If it contains a dare, she must choose whether to accept it or pass it on. If she accepts, she has to complete the task within a set time frame, usually a week. Drawing a name requires her to prank the person whose name appears on the slip, following the same rules that apply to dares. Those who draw a blank slip are off the hook until the next drawing, which happens weeks later.
For example, Lady Evelina might draw a slip that dares her to swap the sugar in Lady Arabella's tea for salt. If Evelina succeeds without being caught, she wins the round and earns the right to issue the next dare. However, if Lady Arabella catches her sneaking around the ballroom, she'll have to spend her evenings polishing the silverware in Lady Arabella's dining hall.
Another example could be a dare requiring Lady Rosalind to secretly replace all the candles in Lady Meredith's ballroom with ones that emit coloured smoke. Should Rosalind succeed, the colourful spectacle would be the talk of the town. If Lady Meredith catches Lady Rosalind in the act or discovers who was behind the prank, Lady Rosalind must serve as Lady Meredith's maid for the following week.
The consequences are designed to be both humorous and humbling. They could range from serving tea and scones to the victor each morning, to organising and hosting a lavish tea party under the victor’s strict guidance, spending a day tending to the flowers in the garden dressed as a common gardener, or even serving as a maid for a whole week, with the attire's riskiness depending on the gravity of the failed prank or dare.

The game fosters a sense of camaraderie and light-hearted competition among the noble ladies. It also ensures that the estates of Bridgeport are filled with unexpected laughter and a touch of playful mischief, reminding everyone that even in high society, a bit of fun and folly can bring people closer together.   It is worth noting that the noble ladies typically enjoy their pranks and dares within the secure and private confines of Bridgeport's upper-class districts. Here, they are shielded from the prying eyes of the city's lower classes, ensuring that any potential embarrassment remains among their peers. However, in recent months, the nature of these dares and pranks has taken a daring turn, becoming increasingly bold and risqué. The latest pranks have happened at the Opera House, the Curl Up and Dye hair salon and the Enchanting Curves & Co fashion store.   GM info / spoilers.
