Rupert van Strack, the esteemed director of the Bridgeport Museum, is a figure who commands both respect and affection within the city. Always impeccably dressed in a dark suit with a crisp white shirt and a neatly tied tie, Rupert cuts an elegant figure. His well-groomed moustache, meticulously maintained, adds a touch of old-world charm to his distinguished appearance.   Rupert is a friendly old man, known for his warm demeanor and welcoming nature. He delights in sharing the rich history and vibrant culture of Bridgeport with visitors, guiding them through the museum’s vast collection with infectious enthusiasm. His deep love for the artifacts and artworks housed within the museum is evident in every word he speaks, and his eyes sparkle with the joy of recounting tales from the past.   However, Rupert's genial nature has its limits. While he is patient and kind to most, he has little tolerance for those who fail to treat ancient relics and valuable art with the reverence they deserve. When faced with carelessness or disrespect, his usual warm expression hardens, and his eyes flash with a rare, fiery intensity. In these moments, Rupert's voice takes on a stern, authoritative tone that leaves no room for argument, reminding everyone that the treasures of the museum are to be cherished and preserved for future generations.   Despite this sternness, Rupert's dedication to the museum and its mission is unwavering. He has spent decades organizing money to expand the collection and maintain the property, driven by a passion for history and a commitment to education. Under his stewardship, the Museum of Bridgeport has flourished, becoming a beacon of knowledge and culture in the city.
Perelline Society of Explorers and Finders of Ways
As a distinguished member of the Perelline Society of Explorers and Finders of Ways, Rupert makes a monthly pilgrimage (by airship) to Perelline to attend the society's exclusive gatherings. These meetings are a highlight for him, as they provide an opportunity to discuss the latest scientific and archaeological discoveries with his peers. Rupert takes great pride in being the first to disseminate new findings. Upon his return to Bridgeport, he eagerly prepares and delivers weekly lectures in the museum's cafeteria, where he shares the most recent advancements and intriguing tales from the world of exploration and archaeology. These lectures have become highly anticipated events, drawing enthusiasts and curious minds eager to learn from Rupert's vast knowledge and firsthand accounts.
League of Cheese Aficionados
He is also an enthusiastic member of the Bridgeport League of Cheese Aficionados, a group dedicated to the appreciation of fine cheeses. The league meets regularly to sample a wide variety of cheeses, both local and imported, and to engage in spirited discussions about their flavors, textures, and origins. Rupert particularly enjoys these gatherings, where he can indulge his passion for cheese and share his extensive knowledge with fellow connoisseurs.
