Le Hibou Qui Vole La Lune
In the early nights of Anima's skies, long before souls had language or ink with which to write it, the only light by which to see was that provided by the Reàltaí. They watched the world below and waited for the first souls to walk upon its surface - and, eventually, walk they did. Spectra Voleuse Fuil na Réaltaí, Limnoreia, and Galatea Fuil Na Realtai lent their light to the Animists, feeding the unicorns with their light who in turn replenished the sister realms of Anima - all relied upon each other and so all were responsible for maintaining the light. Cridhe Loch Fae soon began her eternal walk and in her path followed her pilgrims along Le Pèlerinage, though many lost their way and sunk into despair before they could find their true purpose. Thus it began that the Reàltaí, long time friends and supporters of La Voyageuse Mazarine, sought to aid her in her noble work: in the time of Glowan in the 30th year of L'ere de L'aube the Reàltaí began to dim their lights in the skies over Anima, leaving only Les Triples Lunes D'Avalon by which to see.
Still, the pilgrims of Cridhe Loch Fae strayed from the path of Le Pèlerinage, and at last clever Spectra, La Gardien, eldest of all the star souls, devised a plan.
It was in the last month of Glowan on the 28th day of Siorai that La Gardien de le Manteau Céleste (Common trans. “Guardian of the Heavenly Mantle”) Racine Spectra first shed her scintillating skin and took on the form of a great, galactic owl bigger larger than a night itself: Spectra Voleuse (Common trans. "Spectra the Thief"), Le Hibou Qui Vole La Lune (Common trans. “The Owl Who Steals The Moon”). That night as Siorai became Cathasach and Galatea began to take to the sky, Spectra Voleuse cried her terrible cry, Le Hurlement Qui Voi La Lune (Common trans. "The Howl that Steals the Moon"), frightening her younger sister as she chased her away from the realm of Avalon leaving only Limnoreia the Peacekeeper and her hazy red light to light the way of those below. In the absence of Galatea's light, Cridhe's Kissed found they could more easily seek her lantern (and her guidance) in the deep dark spaces of the world.
Summary
Le Hibou Qui Vole La Lune (Common trans. “The Owl Who Steals The Moon”) is an ancient Avalonian fairytale and morality tale referring to the moons of Avalon.
Historical Basis
The so-called 'myth' of Le Hibou is based in the fact of Avalon's unique preternatural features - the eponymous Le Hibou is none other than Racine Spectra Voleuse Fuil na Réaltaí of House Fuil na Réaltaí, while La Lune is her younger sister, Galatea.
