Tae Kwon Do Karate
Tae Kwan Do, loosely translated as the "way of hands and feet," is the most ubiquitous martial art in all of Alcirya. Tae Kwon Do is a tranformation of T'ang-Su Karate into a formal system that could be trained throughout the organized military of the Yan Do.
With that aim, standardized schools were opened up throughout the provinces in order to train the local military units. Over time, much like military units, each school adopted it's own particiular culture based on the location it served including mascots, codes of ethics, and stylized versions of the basic moves that were taught widely.
In terms of style, Tae Kwon Do is probably the most kick-oriented of all the martial arts. A master will attack quickly, preferably with some kind of flying jump kick. If the opponent is able to avoid or counter the kicks, then the second approach will be to move in with a volley of punches and short-range kicks. The emphasis on quick engagment and overwhelming violence makes it a great go-to open hand technique on the battlefield and equal as effective in a bar room brawl - perfect for the modern soldier.
