Lion of Mar

the Statue of Maah

The Lion of Mar, the Lion of Maal, the Lion of the Mountain, and a hundred other names over the ages have graced this statue of Maah. The statue is a heavily eroded stone construction, carved at the end of the one of the ridges of the Wall of Mar south of the Craddle Valley of Anbar.

While it is unknown who crafted the statue and when, the common consensus among the learned is that it is at least 8000 years old. This would put its carving in the late Randagri Period, most likely by the Mahal people that dwelt in the land at that time. This estimation is based largely on surviving regional and traveler accounts of the statue's existence. It was considered old already as Ancient Siduum rose.
