Obsidian

Lava Glass

Obsidian is a naturally occurring material created by quick cooled lava. This glass-like material is hard but brittle, easily fracturing into sharp edges. This has led many ancient people to use the glass in weapon creation, such as arrowheads and spear tips. The first uses wereby the Valan and Kenite peoples during the Randagri Period.

In the modern day, obsidian is still used by some cultures for weapon creations, though this has largely been replaced by metals. Obsidian is still used by the upper-class for knifes in the Parcel and is popular with surgeons for its fine edge. The material has become popular in Novyum for use in jewelry, especially in the mountainous eastern regions. The popularity of obsidian jewelry came out of Gonthram, where it has been worn for centuries.
