Pier’s Peak (pears)

the Halls of Night

Pier's Peak is the highest point of the eastern range of the Areian Peaks. Its height pales in comparison to the western peaks standing at just above 12,000 feet, much of which comes from the slow raising of land in the region around it. Like most of the eastern mountains, it is rocky and steep, often littered with shallow caves. Little grows on the desert mountain beyond grasses and scrub brush.

What is on the mountain is not nearly as important as what is in the mountain, or rather under it. At the heart of the mountain is the Juhl'are city of Zith Morra. The dark elves control the caverns in their mountain. Stretching their tendrils of control outward through the tunnels that exist in the Underdeep. As stated above there are many caves that dot Pier's Peak, most are shallow, however several are not. The mountain is one of the few landmarks of western Anbar that connects to the Night Below. It is something of an oasis for that underground world. The winter snow and spring rain runoff flows through the mountain's tunnels making Pier's Peak the only region with accessable fresh world west of Delargwat. These caverns that do access the Night Below are dangerous, full of steep descents and tight spaces, often damp and slippery. The most well-known of these tunnels, Darith's Folly, is not on the mountain however, but fifty miles southwest. This tunnel is a near straight, relatively easy, travel to Zith Morra that takes about two days journey.
