Sael Mehu Mountain
Paradise Peak
Sael Mehu is the heights peak at the heart of its mountain range in southwestern Ethae. The mountain's peak reaches nearly 25,500 feet, and despite being in a temperate zone of the globe remains snowless and relatively warm year-round. The Sael Mehu range is known for its distinct features of sharp steep peaks and deep wide valleys. Forest and vegetation covers the mountains and grow nearly all the way up to its peaks. Unlike many mountains of a similar height, the air does not thin the higher one reaches, and remains easily breathable as one ascends. While many scholars have tried to explain the unique features of Sael Mehu and its range, such as warm winds off the Cota Ocean sweeping out of Anbar and the equator, it seems beyond the mundane. The mountain itself seem closer to Beyond Aldern than most other places on the world.
Sael Mehu has long been a sacred site for the Human of Jerain as well as the native Naga. Ruins of temples and ancient settlements of both species dot the mountain. Today it is protected by the naga of Patala-loka.
Sael Mehu is believed to mean "Holy Mother" in a lost human language, though this is largely considered tradition rather than fact. Somon pilgrims still travel to the mountain. Some treat the naga with respect, while others see the naga as a monstrous infestation of the sacred land. Other somon tribes see the mountain as a conduit of the evil of the Beyond, best to be avoided or destroyed.
