Slava
the Eastern Normon
Slava is a term for Human living in the eastern part of Novyum, east of the Plashin Range. The term originated in the cultures around Lake Roic, in antiquity, as a term meaning tribal people beyond their civilizations. Similar to the term barbarian used by other cultures. As the culture grew and the concept of the Heartlands formed, the term was pushed out, often used for anyone across Ethae that was not of Normon descent. The term first latched on to the people of eastern Novyum during the rise of the Republic of Lakorth. The cultures in the east that resisted Lakorth expansion began calling themselves Slava as a protest to the expanding republic. These resistances were largely crushed and absorbed by Lakorth, like so many other locations around the continent of Ethae.
After the decline of Lakorth, and the eventual rise of the United Kingdoms of Novyum, the term resurfaced as a description of normon dwelling east of the Plashin, while those dwelling west came to be categorized as Novya. These terms have become so intergrated into the Common Tongue and cultures of Novyum that some may believe they has always been used for the people groups dwelling on either side of the Plashin Range.
