The Pillars
A cluster of submerged skylands bisect what was the north-western Amerinthian peninsula. Amidst these aquatic landmasses are three massive obelisks stretching from the sea to the sky. Strong magical energy emanates from these towers; however, very few have ventured into these towers and returned, and even fewer have seen the secrets they hold.
Purpose / Function
Historic records have conflicting reports for what the original purposes of these obelisks were. Some believe they were built by merfolk as a shrine to their gods, some believe they were designed by a cult to honor some fiend or celestial or another being of power, and some believe they were constructed in order contain a powerful, ancient evil.
Alterations
The pillars were originally identical in appearance as they were all constructed by the same white seastone. However, as time went on, especially in recent centuries, people began to notice gradual changes in appearance in the towers.
Over the past couple centuries, people notice the top of the southern pillar changed from a stark white to a deep black, and this color change gradually ran its way down the pillar. Currently, the top half of the pillar has completely changed from white to black; people suspect the presence of flowstone to be the reason for this change. The northern pillar has become distinguished due to a thick covering of vines and other plant growth on the surface of the tower. Only the center pillar appears to remain unchanged.
