The Hunt
The Hunt is an entity that was mentioned to the party by Cain 'The Immortal' Diab when they found him in the spires of the Lady of Pain
A hunter is one that has been marked and transformed by the hunt, leading to them seemingly having a need for a pack, a group to care for, and the need to... well... hunt.
Cain was driven to a bloodlust when he became a hunter and this bloodlust sent him on a murderous rampage until Drahz Grymhook dragged him to the hells to be punished by the lady of pain.
The only other hunter the party have heard of is Nirya Moonbrook, the one who turned Cain into a hunter and attempted to become his alpha. She became known as the 'Lady in the Woods' though the party haven't interacted with her. Though this was based on exxaggerated claims by Cain to convince the party to free him... they did not...
The party have since investigated the Hunt further and moved to the forests outside of Lakefort where they encountered the Hunt, an aggressive and feminine voice that slowly clapped at them and called the prey before offering the group a challenge. If they could destroy the parts of her heart before being caught by her predators then they would gain her respect and walk out of the forest alive... even receiving a conversation with Nirya Moonbrook if they played their cards right. The Hunt takes a dim view of life, seperating them into predators and prey. A predator in the eyes of the hunt is like a family that they obsessively control and watch over at all times, in a feral and passionate manner. Meanwhile prey is what the Hunt identifies as every other individual in the world... lesser than the predator.
The Hunt revealed itself to be a true entity, contrary to many beliefs around it, by infecting Thordak Moonbrook with the Hunt and turning him into the key of the Hunt in place of his grandmother. Since taking on his role, Thordak has added beastial aspects to his form and has been experiencing an uncontrollable lycan transformation in moments of deep emotions whilst raging.
Summary
The Hunt is very similar to the Chaos as it is a concept given form. Though, where the chaos takes on a universal level form of a space with eyes that turn to stare at people and places. The hunt doesn't seem to have a form.
In this respect it is more like a curse or disease and is often compared to Lycanthropy. Spread from hunters to others. Typically a Hunter will either, in desperation, infect many MANY people to find friends and companions (though many cannot control the hunters lust for the hunt and will go mad with the need to inflict violence and hunt others) or they will infect those that want the gift, establishing party's of hunters... though there is always the risk these hunters will be alone when the moon comes, potentially spelling disaster.
It seems many inquisitors have been affected by the curse of the hunter above any other people or factions. This has led to fears that Inquisitors are deliberately spreading the hunt to others around them in the hope of keeping a pack.
Historical Basis
Hunters, or at least those showing hunter personality traits and aspects, are littered throughout history, though it is difficult to prove considering that someone who hunts isn't necessarily a full blown HUNTER.
Spread
It is seen as story, myth or disease and not really seen as an 'entity' apart from in academic circles.
