Pevomm Odinawru

Child of the Duneriders and Brontha, Pevomm's destiny was set long before he was born. This strong and friendly Phoenix Squire was betrothed to Garnet Tohsaka years ago, to solidify an alliance between Brontha and the Odinawru tribe. When the Blessed Child went missing, Pevomm's life transformed. Now his training has less to do with leadership and diplomacy, and more to do with war.

Personal history

Two wise and formidable leaders fell in love when they saw each other reflected across the salt wastes of Khara. The Tukulti-imuhhu, a dunerider tribe on friendly terms with the Bronthans, faced capture and forcible transformation at the hands of the Designers of Diffraxus. Elder Tamineh, determined to save her people, sent a single messenger to ride across the sands of the desert with Sirocco's winds at her back. The messenger reached Aturpat Farnaka, Phoenix Knight of Brontha, who followed Tamineh's instructions and took his best riders to the salt wastes of Khara.   Tamineh laid a trap for the Iron Butchers. Lured by the prospect of discovering the duneriders' secret paths through the salt wastes, they eagerly followed through a terrible sandstorm. Elder Tamineh took the best fighters in her tribe one way and secretly sent the noncombatants another, making themselves the bait for the trap. Just as the Iron Butchers thought they'd discovered the secret ways, Aturpat sounded his horn, and war-prayers to Zeilar sounded over the desert. Side by side Aturpat rode with his best friend, Sennacherib, and once united with Tamineh they laid waste to the Iron Butchers, spilling their blood and melting their iron with the holy fire of the sun.   The Winds of Sirocco followed Tamineh's letter back to her, for in the heat of battle her eye fell on Sennacherib, and his eye on her. Together, they reunited with the rest of the Tukultu-imuhhu and led them all to the walls of Brontha.   So it was that the Tukultu-imuhhu consecrated themselves to Sirocco's sibling, Zeilar the Sunrider, and became the Odinawru. Tamineh and Sennacherib were wed in the temple of the Noonday Sun, and all her people anointed with holy oils and welcomed to the Zeilarian faith.   To the Phoenix Knight and the Dunerider was born a single son--Pevomm Odinawru. From birth, he was anointed by his father to be raised as a Phoenix Knight, and by his mother to be a great leader for her people. He had excellent tutors amongst the Flamemothers of the temple and the masters-at-arms of the Phoenix Knights. They instructed him in the ways of medicine and the body, Zeilar and his teachings, swordplay and the use of armor. His mother ensured that the fighting style, poems and traditions of the Duneriders were not neglected, even though she was happy to call herself Bronthan. Pevomm was assigned to his father's best friend, Aturpat, to be a page and a knight-in-training.   When Pevomm was only a few years old, the Priest King of Brontha summoned his parents to the Grand Temple. He praised them both for their great service to the Sunrider and to all the peoples of Anacra, and asked Tamineh to be an envoy to the rest of the Duneriders, that they might hear the Phoenix's Cry and join the Odinawru in communion. Tamineh advised the Priest King that this would be no small matter, as the Duneriders were proud of their traditions and the passionate worship of Sirocco. The Priest King called upon Elder Amosis Toksaka and Supreme Phoenix Knight Meresan, whose child Garnet Tohsaka was born on the day of the Second Miracle. He proposed to the gathered parents that their children be betrothed, a great honor and bond that would inspire more Duneriders to unite with Brontha in the light of Zeilar and, together, oppose the Infernals.   So young Pevomm learned at a young age that he was to be married to the Blessed Child, and his lessons changed appropriately. Now he was not only to be a warrior and a leader of warriors, but a diplomat, a symbol, and a source of inspiration. Etiquette teachers and world studies were added to his already intense regimen. What little time he had to be a child, was already spent many years in advance.   His first actual meeting with Garnet, on the day of the betrothal ceremony, went well enough. Though young, Garnet's sense of duty and responsibility already suited her for the occasion, and the two even got into some childhood mischief--something Pevomm hadn't indulged for far too long. Maybe he didn't know her that well, but he already liked her, he made her smile, and she promised to bring him a winged snake when she left with her father to visit the outlying territories and spread the word of their union to the Duneriders who may not have heard.   Since that day, Garnet has not returned, nor has she received any word from Pevomm--but in visions and through scrying, it seems he's become Meresan Tohsaka's squire, and the two of them have scoured the land in search of the lost child ever since...
