Sergei von Zarovich (a.k.a. Sunny)
The youngest Von Zarovich son, Sergei had a life vastly different from that of his two older brothers. Countess Branwen refused to allow her husband to take another child from her, and refused to allow him to take Sergei into the military as he had Strahd and Semyon. Instead, Sergei was pushed towards religion and academics, and shortly before his death was confirmed as a priest of Reve.

Personal history
Sergei was only two years old when the neighboring Terg States invaded Svitar. His father and brothers were active in the war from the beginning, but even when he came of age, his heart was too gentle to be tempted to join the rest of his family in war. The disappearance of his middle brother and the deaths of his parents when he was fourteen didn't harden his heart, and the grief only made him quieter and more solemn as he grew.
When his eldest brother Strahd won a home for their family in Barovia, Sergei was barely a man. Though they were too far removed in age and temperament to ever be close, Sergei had respect and even love for Strahd, though the feelings were not always reciprocated.
Sergei continued his training as a priest all throughout the war and in the years ago, and at only eighteen years of age was named as a priest. He was the protege of the head priest of the valley, Andral.
When Sergei was nineteen, he met Tatyana. A druid from the wilderness of Barovia, she had been summoned to the castle by Rahadin to aid Strahd with his lingering wartime wounds. Both brothers were instantly smitten with her, but it was the young and gentle Sergei who earned her affection. The two courted for a short few years before announcing their marriage.
Sergei had no idea that his brother Strahd also cared for Tatyana, nor that there were powers beyond his imaginings that would manipulate his brother into committing terrible acts. On the eve of Sergei's wedding, Strahd met him in his chambers under the guise of congratulations. When he drew him in for an embrace, Strahd slit Sergei's throat and drank his blood.
