Introduction

The Atlas Empire, originally known as the Atlasian Republic, was a prominent political and military power in the Ancient Sol system. Founded on Earth, the empire eventually extended its influence to Mars, ruling over key settlements like Atlas City and New Marheus. The capital of the empire was located in Altaira, Antarctica.

Overview

The Atlas Empire began as a democratic republic but evolved into an authoritarian socialist state following a significant terrorist attack. Under the leadership of President Theron, the republic transitioned into an empire, consolidating power and establishing a strong military presence both on Earth and Mars.

Historical Background

Formation and Early Republic: The Atlasian Republic was formed in 10,901 PN. Originally a republic, a large movement was successful in transitioning it to a direct democracy. It later transitioned from a direct democracy to a democratic socialist state, expanding executive powers until a major terrorist attack in 11,110 PN.   Transition to Empire: President Theron seized the opportunity presented by the terrorist attack to declare martial law, dissolve the people's chambers, and reconstitute the government as the Atlas Empire in 11,113 PN. This move was justified as necessary to combat terrorism and maintain order.   Colonization of Mars: The Atlasians were pioneers in space exploration, becoming the first human race in Ancient Sol to travel to Mars in 11,125 PN. They founded Atlas City and later New Marheus in collaboration with the Neolithics. These cities became focal points of their Martian colonies.

Structure and Hierarchy

The Atlas Empire was characterized by a centralized authoritarian structure. The Emperor held supreme power, supported by a council of advisors and a military command structure that extended from Earth to Mars. Sub-organizations such as the Atlas Security Forces, the Atlas Scientific Consortium, and the Atlas Colonial Administration played crucial roles in maintaining order, advancing technology, and managing extraterrestrial colonies.

Activities and Operations

The Atlas Empire focused on expanding its technological and territorial dominance. On Mars, they strictly controlled their colonies, forbidding Martian-born Atlasians from serving in the military, thus keeping the military loyal to Earth-born Atlasians. The Atlas Scientific Consortium spearheaded technological advancements, while the Atlas Colonial Administration ensured effective governance of Martian settlements.
