Half-elf

Descendant of a Veldmathi (commany known as an elf) and a human, half-elves can often pass a regular humans, but are still shunned by many people if they find out. Because of the Velmathi heritage, they usually live longer than humans, and have some innate magic, but as most do not grow up with the elves, they are only as competent as human magic users.

Anatomy

Half elves usally look very similar to humans, most have slightly pointy ears, and their faces usaly fall within the normal specturm for humans.

Genetics and Reproduction

Half-elves are born from a human and veldmathi parent, witch is the mother has little effect. Because of this, half-elves are geneticly compatible with both species, although they children will always be half-elves.

Growth Rate & Stages

Half-elves grow very similar to humans, but they age slower from 20-100, equvelent around 20 years, and can live up to 200, althouth most only live to 120-150.

Additional Information

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

While they do not have as good of senses as their Veldmathi ansestors, they have more accute hearing and eyesight than humans. In addition, they also are not as in tune with magic as the Veldmathi, so they can only sense magic that is closer or bigger. While half-elves have an inate telepath, their range is much more limited, and they can not usally sense emotions unless they are very strong.

Naming Traditions

Usally they are given human names by their human parent if they grow up around humans, and veldmathi ones if they grow up with the other parent.

Major Language Groups and Dialects

All half-elves can read and write comman, and most can speek Funbaren. If they grew up with their veldmathi parent that they can read and write Funbaran as well.

Common Taboos

Any half-elf who grows up with the velmathi usually does not eat meat, and those that grow up with humans usually take on any taboos from them.

History

The first known half-elf was a child of 2 dragon riders in 6540 BCE, so the child was different in other ways. Since that point they were fairly uncommon, although records indicate that there were usually at least one born every 10-20 years to parents of the 2 races. They have often been shunned by humans because of their uncommon heritage. Because of this, many half-elves, if they have kids at all, mate with another half-elf.

Most half-elves are shunned by humans, and fare only a littie better with the veldmathi. Because of this, half-elves are usally loaners, or fiercely loyal to a small community of other half-elves.

Skill Versatility. You gain proficiency in one skill of your choice.
Light footed. Your speed when moving stealthily is not affected by difficult terrain. In addition, you do not leave any trail in natural environments.
Darkvision. Genetically accustomed to dim forests, you can in dim light up to 60ft as if it was bright, and in darkness as if it was dim. You can not perceive color in darkness.
Keen Senses. You have proficiency in Perception.
Magical Defense. Because of your ancestry you have advantage on all saving throws against being charmed.
Innate Spellcasting. You can speak telepathically to others within 60 feet of you who you can see.
Trance. Your ancestry allows you to sleep less often. You can meditate deeply, remaining semiconscious, for 4 hours a day. While meditating you can dream after a fashion. After resting in this manner, you gain the benefits of a long rest, but can only get the effect once between normal long rests.
Magical Senses. You can use Detect Magic once between long rests without using a spell slot. Use your intelligence modifier as the spell modifier.
