Cathedral of Hw. Brunhilde

This is a magnificent Temple to the Goddess of Balance, Arawn in the capital city of Ebrion, Dolon. It is dedicated to her Hallow, Brunhilde.   The first temple of Hw. Brunhilde consisted of an octagonal building in the north of the current site, during the Kelador capitalcy. it was built with influence of the Milagonian (Romanesque) architectural style. Later, following the Restoration of Ebrionian Independence   and Dolon's restoration as capital, @Agric I decreed that the Temple be expanded to recognise Arawn's role in restoring the balance of Ebrion's independence, and as a way to cement his power.   Conceived as a design to construct a giant balance, the emblem of Arawn. Earthworks began excavating a valley south of the original temple. A second chamber, a mirror image to the original, was then built south of that, attempting as best possible to entirely replicate that of the remodelled first. Between the two chambers, a great Nave in the now fashionable Gothic style was then constructed, with a high central spire. This was all supported by an intricate system of flying buttresses. The construction period over 2 centuries saw numerous human architects come and go, but was overseen by the same Dwarf mason. The white and black rock used were mostly sourced from Ebrion, though some white rock was imported from Mitzu for sculpture.

appearance
Inside the Cathedral, candles hang from great chandeliers which resemble weighing balances. Staff are always an equal number of male and female, and attendees are always encouraged to seat themselves in a symmetrically manner on either side of the central aisle. The décor is mostly black and white, in equal amounts, in geometric patterns and, on the floor, a mosaic of a great set of scales. One wall contains a monochrome mosaic of a woman cutting off her feet - it's quite graphic, despite being depicted in grey. At the base of all the columns is a carved boot. One burst of colour is evident, on the floor near the entrance is the symbol of the balanced elements.   Not far away lies Greyfields Cemetary, tended by the staff of Hw. Brunhilde's.
