Unification of Ebrion
The Kingdom of Ebrion as it stands today was first united into a single state through the conquering efforts of Belegond King Wulfred Blorschild in about PD 768. Before this, the landmass was composed of multiple smaller warring tribes, with little connections across the [[Belt Mountains]].
Wulfred I’s conquering ambitions unsated in his own land of Belegond, he looked across the Channel of Storms to Ebrion. Starting in the north, he either formed alliances with or decimated the northern tribes, ending with a Siege of Dolon in late PD 765. After taking the camp, he named it the capital of the new land and declared himself King of all Ebrion.
Forced by the seasons to wait a further six months, he crossed the [[Belt Mountains]] at the Buckle Pass. His ranks swelled by new Ebrionians loyal to him, it took only 2 years to claim the south of Ebrion as a part of his Empire.
Wars for Control
The descendants of Wulfred continued to rule Ebrion as a tenant kingdom for over 200 years until, in PD 1021, an increasingly power Milagon set their eyes on securing Ebrion as a convenient trade pathway from the North and East. This kicked of the conflict that would later become known as the 70 year war. It is during this period that Kandarert, a fighter of South Ebrion, loyal to Queen Mathilde, allegedly made a pact with Oloch to become a soldier of Death. With his scourge, the war looked like it would turn in favour of the incumbent rulers. However, Kandarert began to prey indiscriminately on all soldiers and civilians alike. Eventually, in an unlikely pact with a nomadic band of Daenor Woodelves, Kandarert was trapped and sealed in a tomb. After that, the forces became dangerously balanced, neither side able to fully gain the upper hand. The 70 year war ensued until in PD 1094, Milagonian forces succeeded in sacking Kelador. Rodian I is crowned King and declares Kelador as the capital, being more conveniently located for passage to Milagon. The House of Casillero now owned Ebrion. This ownership was challenged by the remnant of the Blorschild line, the cousin once removed of the former king, who named himself Wulfred III. Gathering a relatively small army from the north, Wulfred besieged and eventually took Kelador. He managed to hold a shaky seven year reign before being ousted by reinforcements from Milagon.First Independent State of Ebrion
Following the death of King Manetto (PD 1201), differences in the rules of succession between Ebrion and Milagon caused a constitutional crisis. As the eldest from the first marriage of Manetto, Phillipia stood to inherit the throne of Ebrion. Ebrion did not recognise the claim of the only male heir born of Manetto’s second marriage, Felix Casillero. Milagonian rules of succession, however, stated that any male heir formed of a legitimate union would surpass any other claim. After nearly a year of negotiation and squabbling, it was decided that Phillipa would take the Ebrionian Throne as Phillipia II, of the House Andor-Casillero, but renounce any claims for her or her descendants to the Throne of Milagon. This instead would be given to Felix. The two nations should remain ‘sister kingdoms’.Casilleran Restoration
Despite initial best intentions, the two nations grew apart, with an independent Ebrionian identity being formed. The young Rodian V was especially vocal about the independent identity of Ebrion. This greatly pleased his subject, but annoyed Milagon. In PD 1287, Rodian V made an official statement that he intended to impose trade tariffs on items passing through Ebrion bound for Milagon. Four weeks later, he was dead. Official statements claimed he was killed when his horse reared after being bitten by a snake. Many suspected foul play and the involvement of Milagonian forces. Deceased at only 25, Rodian V had produced no heir. Milagon took this opportunity to ‘re-unite’ the two thrones, installing current King Narcis as the head of both nations. The Tawney Revolution
Used now to having a close relationship with their Royalty, Narcis proved highly unpopular in Ebrion. Efforts to quell this even had Narcis shipped to Kelador from Paragan. However, his cunning nature and abrasive personality did little to raise his favour at Court. Dissent was fomenting, particularly so in the North. Narcis also instituted the Kelador City Guard at this time to control the unruly populous of his seat. Various Pretenders began to make waves in the nation, straining the forces of Narcis to control them. Support coalesced around one charismatic figure, Agric Tawney. A low-level baron in the North, he could lay claim to Royal heritage both through his mother as a descendant of the Blorschild line and through his father’s connection to the House of Andor. In PD 1294, Agric and his forces marched on and took Kelador. Narcis was executed in the Main Square (now renamed in Agric’s honour) to grand applause from the people. Agric I was crowned in the Pantheon in Orst. Celebrated as a hero and a liberator, statues were raised in his honour across the land. He lost some favour, though, with the people of Kelador when he moved the Royal Seat and the Coronation Throne from Kelador and back to Dolon in 1298.
