Dravenhold
History & Introduction
The towering Dravenhold is the crowning achievement of the Davis Family, rulers of Los Voron. Constructed from the finest obsidian and infernal materials, it reflects their unchallenged power and immense wealth within the fourth layer of Hell. Built decades ago by the first Davis to ascend to power, Dravenhold’s presence in the skyline serves as both a defensive fortress and a symbol of supremacy. Each level of the 20-story tower offers a glimpse into the family’s personal indulgences, meticulous control, and extravagant lifestyle, while discreetly housing areas essential to the family's governance over Los Voron. Visitors, if invited, quickly discover that every corner of Dravenhold is meticulously designed to impress, intimidate, and inspire awe.
Physical Description
External
Dravenhold looms over Los Voron as a dominating silhouette of polished obsidian. At night, thin veins of gold, interwoven into the dark structure, light up in faint, pulsing patterns like veins filled with molten metal. The tower rises in angular layers, gradually narrowing as it reaches toward the blood-red sky. Its upper levels are crowned by a rooftop garden, barely visible from the ground but radiant with bioluminescent flora that glows in spectral hues. A series of monumental balconies extends from key levels, each adorned with meticulously carved fiendish symbols and decorative statues depicting infernal guardians. Dravenhold’s entrance is guarded by towering obsidian golems and loyal fiends, and the main door, an enormous gate of darkened steel inscribed with magical wards, seems to emanate a low hum, resonating with the heartbeat of the tower itself.Internal
Inside, Dravenhold is a palace of luxury and might, mixing the aesthetic of a fortress with the elegance of a high-society residence. The foyer greets visitors with high ceilings, carved pillars, and floors inlaid with shimmering onyx and gold. Each level is interconnected by an elaborate system of obsidian staircases and a smooth glass lift, lined with symbols that glow faintly to identify each floor’s purpose. Every level reflects the unique tastes and obsessions of the Davis family. The basement floors, discreet and heavily guarded, store travel devices for inter-layer excursions and provide access to the Styx marina through docking pens. On Floor 1, Opulencia’s snowsport simulator contrasts the hellish environment outside, while Floor 2’s equestrian ring echoes an idealized earthly past. The Sports Centre on Floor 3 offers fiendish exercise and indulgence, complete with luxurious amenities and personal trainers. Floors dedicated to individual family members are extravagantly adorned; Eleanor’s quarters exude class with rare imported woods and delicate silk tapestries, while Kenan’s level feels more like a refined retreat, housing ancient artifacts. The rooftop garden, unlike any place in Hell, is alive with exotic plants from various planes, magically sustained and glowing under an unholy light.Auditory cues
Dravenhold is filled with the soft, echoing hum of infernal wards. The occasional murmur of fiendish dialects drifts from various rooms, while muffled sounds of life and activity echo up from the sports center, giving the tower a subtle sense of constant movement. The trading floor is filled with the sound of clinking coins, the rustling of scrolls, and the subdued, high-stakes chatter of deals being struck. The rooftop garden is uncharacteristically serene, with only the faintest rustling of bioluminescent leaves.
Scents
The air in Dravenhold is rich with various scents—incense wafting through Avery and Eleanor’s quarters, a faint aroma of rare herbs and polished leather on the trading floor, and a lingering hint of rich perfume throughout the guest areas. The rooftop garden is the most distinct, filled with the aroma of exotic blooms, damp earth, and faint sulfuric undertones that hint at the tower’s infernal origin.
Items for sale
While not a market itself, Dravenhold’s trading floor on Floor 15 is where priceless artifacts, rare information, and political favors are bought, sold, and brokered. Patrons of Dravenhold may find themselves presented with exclusive opportunities: unique artifacts, high-level spell components, and even soul-bound relics traded directly under Avery Davis’s oversight. Deals are conducted privately, and only those deemed worthy by the family are invited to make offers.Levels of Dravelhold
