Session 7: The rise of Moth Gideon

General Summary

In the realm of adventure and magic, our band of intrepid heroes found themselves on a mission of utmost importance. Their quest led them to the enigmatic Zeril Reis, guardian of the Yuanti healer temple concealed beneath the majestic waterfall in Umcebo.   In their desperate bid to cure Sirrai of her ailment, they discovered that only blood magic could provide the remedy they sought. However, the use of such magic was forbidden by the Reisarra. Divine intervention is the only possible cure according to Zeril and the only avenue is through the forbidden magic of Zehir, the cloaked serpent god.   As they gathered their wits, Zeril revealed a troubling development. A sacred tome had gone missing from their catacomb library, and he harbored suspicions that one of the Alliance of the Enlightened was behind this theft. This secretive cult bore eerie similarities to a group that had once roamed these lands. The party was directed towards an old accountant, the knowledgeable Eirik, Zeril hinted at a connection to Simicism magic, delving deeper into the mysterious tapestry of their adventure.   The name of Sirrai's ailment was Spiranox, a rare affliction typically found in Yuan-ti. Zeril, ever the benevolent guardian, provided Sirrai with balms and salves to ease her suffering, demanding nothing but donations for their noble services.   The party, brimming with newfound knowledge and a thirst for adventure, learned of the Alliance of the Enlightened. This group promised miraculous healing far beyond conventional means. Their curiosity piqued, the party was drawn to an upcoming gathering at the Bloom Bottle Apothecary, hosted by Syndra Sporeman, a dwarven proprietor. Keye's, always the quick thinker, swiped a pamphlet from a crippled Stilra and marked down the event's date and location.   However, their journey took an unexpected turn at the Tattered Anchor, where they encountered merchant elves engaging in discussions with a group of half-orcs, each bearing distinctive tattoos of black hands. This group was none other than "The Black Hand," an enigmatic organization with nefarious undertones.   Mina, ever the life of the party, had been dancing and mingling in her sparkling attire, forging friendships with both merchants and a member of the Black Hand. The party's vigilant eyes witnessed a clandestine exchange of funds between the Red Cloaks and the Black Hand, followed by the mysterious disappearance of Rocky, Marigold's beloved pet.   Determined to recover the Cockatrice, they embarked on a chase, but tragedy struck as Philibere, the party's loyal scout, was felled during their reconnaissance. The Black Hand, on high alert, rained down attacks upon the party in their quest to steal Rocky away.   After a tense standoff and a rocky rescue operation, they secured Rocky and gained the trust of Vishka, a member of the Black Hand who agreed to deliver the Cockatrice back to Marigold. However, the leader of the Black Hand as well as a bug-bear and the Red Cloaks' leader slipped through their grasp, leaving a potential threat hanging over their heads.   With the main objective accomplished, our battle-weary heroes sought refuge in an abandoned warehouse. Little did they know that danger lurked within. Solomon, ever the vigilant one, uncovered poisoned silk bolts stacked high, and the ceiling held an unsettling surpriseā€”a giant moth, its wings spread wide, launching the party into chaos.   Mina's quick thinking signaled for a retreat, but the moth made a daring escape, keeping them on edge. As they finally found respite, the unexpected sound of clanging shackles and falling cabbages shattered their tranquility. The voice of the Moth King (Mina) declared, "Who dares disturb the Moth King?"
