Physicker

For those looking to get fixed up or repaired after a fight you have two basic options. If you're a person in good standing with no arrest warrants out for you, then it's possible The Order of the Fallen Leaves will take some amount of pity on you granting you their healing magics to restore what is broken and bruised provided you can pay their fee. The other option though most assuredly more risky is a physicker, not strictly a company or what would even call a group, but they have all sworn an oath to provide care for those who need and can afford it while keeping their lips tight on what their clients might be up to. In addition to this several of these physickers have stocks of drugs and poisons for those that need those kinds of things. Of course if you're really messed up the Clock Docs can even replace limbs but you better have the money for that operation.
"You want to get fixed visit the Order, you need discretion visit a Physicker just don't have the same expectation for wellness out of both" -Ralph Iron Dog

Public Agenda:

Publicly Each Physicker is a separate business on to themselves serving the people of Arbor that need them. Because each one is not part of any greater company your mileage may vary on the quality of care you receive and what they take from your pockets while your unconscious. However most physickers are at the very least no friends of the Green Cloaks and keep a patients confidence at least in that regards. Still they are not to be completely trusted and you should never visit one on your own unless you're desperate. The ones who sell drugs and poisons on the side are doubly suspect and should be regarded with a high level of suspicion. However saying all of the bad there are a number of good Physickers in Arbor who do what they can to look after the poor and those who cannot afford to go see the Order.

Public Perception

Lower Class

For those of the Lower Class the Physickers represent the only real choice they have for any medical care. Some take quite a large amount of advantage with this attempting to extort whatever they can from those who are already backed against the wall. So for much of the populace they treat them the same way they do with anyone else a healthy dose of suspicion always looking for the other shoe to drop.

Middle Class

Physickers in different parts of the city are a reflection of their location and for much of the Second Ring and First Ring the physickers here are far more reputable and far less likely to cause any issues for their clientele. So for the kinds of people who still require their services there is a degree of trust here and word gets around if a physicker is revealing secrets so they best keep their mouths shut.

Upper Class

The upper classes have no need for these working doctors and in many cases have their own in house staff that see to their needs. Even if they don't most of the Upper Class can get access to the Order's treatments meaning they never have to see one of these people for their medical needs.

History:

Physickers, Sawbones, or Healers have existed in Arbor and even before that for as long as anyone can remember. Magical healing before Arbor was rare and so diseases, broken bones and battle wounds need to be cared for in a mundane fashion. Those skills did not go away as magic of that variety is still on the rarer side and with the Collegiate Arcanum making sure that any new intiates are rounded up before allowing that kind of power into the general populace, it looks to stay that way.   The Order of the Fallen Leaves thus controls the majority of magical healers in the city and in one as large as Arbor there is a great need for people who can set bones, stop bleeding, amputate limbs and treat diseases. Thus the Physickers are here, there are a number of schools in the city that can train in the medical arts including the prestigious Silver Leaf Academy though any who get their training there are likely to go on to serving one of the great families.   Still smaller schools exist some without so much as a name that can train and educate a person on which bones are which and how to put a person back together so there is an endless supply of people in the city who have some knowledge on how to keep someone hearty and hale though your mileage may vary on how well trained they are.

Attire / Common Garb / Quirks:

Some would say there is a certain look to a doctor a white lab coat and one of those listening horns to hear your heartbeat but there seems to be no set look or type of person that enters this field perhaps that makes it easier to spot the good ones as they tend to have the cleaner clothes and aren't likely to have a large amount of blood stains across their clothing. It should be noted that in order to be a licenced Physicker one needs to obtain a seal of competence from The Silver Council some aren't licenced but could be cheaper so take what risk you want.

Structure and Hierarchy:

The honest trust is there isn't any, the physickers each operate independently from each other though many in a Branch might know one another and refer patients across in the case of specialized skills being needed.

Notable People:

Dr. Adalynne: A Physicker who operates in the First Ring and has a reputation for providing quality care to her patients. She has a strong sense of ethics and always keeps her patients' confidence. However, she charges a premium for her services.   Boris "The Butcher": A Physicker with a questionable reputation who operates in the Lower Class neighborhoods. He is known for his cheap prices but is rumored to take advantage of his patients and has a tendency to leave them in worse condition than when they arrived.   Dr. Miriam: A Physicker who operates in the Second Ring and has a reputation for her expertise in treating battlefield wounds. She has a no-nonsense attitude and is known for her strict adherence to the Physickers' oath of confidentiality.   Dr. Haxim: A Physicker who operates in the Third Ring and is rumored to have connections with the city's criminal underworld. He is known for his discreet services and is rumored to sell drugs and poisons on the side.   Dr. Aelian: A retired Physicker who now runs a medical supply shop in the First Ring. He is known for his vast knowledge of medical treatments and is often sought after for advice by other Physickers.   Dr. Kael: A young Physicker who is just starting out and operates in the Lower Class neighborhoods. Despite his lack of experience, he is well-liked by his patients for his compassionate and empathetic nature.
