Sophos
Sophos is a small island in the Archipelago, home to many famous philosophers.
This Island lies in the southern part of the Archipelago, almost directly south of Cefali. Thus is experiences quiet the warm climate. This therefore makes the island ideal for grape farming. This is why people first came here, wine from Sophos has been a priced commodity stretching bakc hundreds of years. But this is only the second thing that this small rock is known for.
It is said (perhaps mockingly) that the poeple who settled on the Island became drunk on their own grape and when there was no work to do, they started thinking, and thus the art of Philosophy was born. The Philosophers of this island is known to the learned man all over the world. They and their underlings and students comprise the vast majority of the population. They have vast villas sprinkled along the rocky hillsides of the island. Green wine yards and white sparkling lekture halls in marble are never far away here. The Philosphers spend their days pondering the great mysteries of life and history and therefore almost never leave the Island. The only outsiders permitted to go beyond the seaside port on the west side of the island are the various merchants that have bough the rights to sell the exclusive wine.
