The Phantom Knight
The shadowy leader of The House of Phantoms, Mikael Creed was once a knight in shining armor who eventually fell to corruption and disdain; becoming an undead monstrosity that deals out death in exchange for gold.
In life, Mikael was a Paladin of Vengeance who held a fervaet belief that doling out death to those who inflicted suffering ultimately benefited the greater good. But as the years dragged on, he became more and more disillusioned with the world. The more he worked, the murkier the line between good and evil became, to the point where he could no longer see the line at all. He forsook his oath and decided that who needed to die was a moral question answerable by coin alone.
This culminated in 738 EP when he accepted a contract to kill King Merthyron III of Crucible. He was successful, and effectively endied Tron Renaren's founding bloodline in Crucible. However, he was less successful in the escape attempt. Merthyron's honor guard feel upon the Oathbreaker like bees defending its nest from a wasp. Mikael felled dozens of the soldiers singlehandedly, but ultimately, he succumbed to mass alone.
But death was not the end for Mikael Creed. So black was his heart by the time of his death and so commited was his soul to the impartial hand of gold, that he returned to the realm of the living as an undead warrior: a death knight.
In undeath, he would continue to ply his trade and slowly grew a network of assassins, thieves, and thugs around him. He and his guild grew in notoriety; even becoming the de facto ruling party of Crucible with a puppet king on the throne. Eventually, their shadow government was overthrown, but his House of Phantoms persisted far into the future.
In 1219 EP, the Phantom himself found himself contracted into The White Tower Alliance in their fight against Cataclysm after he failed to complete another contract against the druid Bran. After the Alliance diisbanded, the Phantom returned to Crucible where he has continued to ply his trade ever since.
