Drowned Mines
Long ago, the Durnam Mines were a source of wealth for the Helspire Islands. The prospectors had found a seemingly endless source of platinum, bringing riches to the guild of miners that had found it. They dug deep, and they dug rapidly, extracting every last bit of wealth they could. Deeper and deeper the miners dug, until they unsealed something that was meant to be long forgotten.
The miners had stumbled into a portal leading into the Plane of Water. The mines quickly became flooded, trapping and killing the miners within. The Durnam Mines soon became the Drowned Mines. Some say this was a punishment for trying to mine for wealth, instead of conquering it like their ancestors. Now it is filled with all manner of angry denizens from the elemental plane of water.
