Baron's Highway

The Baron's Highway is a section of the @Spineroad three days travel either side of Villane. This stretch of road is the highest quality and safest of the entire Spine road. For the privilege of its use, travelers must pay a toll. This toll is a major source of income for the town of Villane, and much of its workforce is dedicated to the maintenance and patrol of the road.

Purpose / Function

The Barons Highway occupies what was once one of the most bandit-filled sections of road in all of The Sunhold Compact Confederacy. Due to the geography of Areldia, All trade between Humans and the other races uses the @Norther Passage. This means that in order for trade routes between the large southern cities of The Sunhold Compact Confederacy and The Kingdom of Thane to reach the northern cities of Sunhold as well as The Vale of Elendil and Kordaldrum, everything must pass throught Villane and the Baron's Highway. With such a high volume of traffic, the well-maintained road is a valuable asset.
