Emperor Ngavlitsias

Are we not all of the same Havlian blood? Are we not all guided under the eyes of the same gods? Then why, pray tell, must we live in constant strife? The petty feuds of pitiful lords do nothing but hold us back. I shall put them to rest.
— Emperor Ngavlitsias
Emperor Ngavlitsias (Old Havlic: Ŋavlítsias) was the first emperor in Havlian history. He reigned from 424 B to 319 B. He was the son of a noble family in Tsilaio and would eventually become the King of Tsilaio.   He had a dream to see the entire Havlic Peninsula united, to see all the Havlian kingdoms and city-states under the same banner, to put a stop to petty wars between the different kings. He saw the division of Havlians as illogical and a cultural setback, he believed that the essence of all Havlians was the same and therefore there should be no strife between them. Some might have seen this noble effort as naïve and childish, but nonetheless his efforts were not in vein, as the King of Tsilaio he was able to successfully amass a great number of supporters and began his journey of unification. Some kingdoms and city-states accepted his proposal and joined him but many more refused. Ngavlitsias did not take no for an answer. All who refused to unify were beat into submission by his exponentially expanding forces. Thus began the Unification Wars. Many saw the war as hypocritical, Ngavlitsias claimed to have such noble intentions and yet was ruthless to anybody that did not immediately accept his proposal, hundreds of people were murdered each battle including civilians. Ngavlitsias saw this as a necessary sacrifice for the greater good. Regardless of what these dissenters said, there was no stopping Ngavlitsias, the disparate Kingdoms were too divided to have a chance. The final stretch of the war was a swift takeover of the southern Yeleni realms that resulted in the displacement of thousands of Yeleni. In 425 B the peninsula was united, a year later the first Empire was formed with Ngavlitsias at the head. Ngavlitsias won.   From then on he had a long life, he married Eilliozas (Eilljɔzas), a commoner and a childhood friend who was one of the sparks that lit Ngavlitsias' dream in the first place. He loved her ever since he was a young boy, but she was from a neighboring kingdom, the idea of him marrying a foreigner, let alone a commoner, did not sit well with his parents. In his life he would have five children, three daughters and two sons. His eldest son Meuros would take the throne as Emperor Meuros I.   His birth name was Itsitaetso (Itsitáetsɔ), the name Ngavlitsias is a posthumous name formed from the first element of his birth name ìtsias with the prefix ŋavl- meaning "first".
