Aoki Sasaki
Father to Aya and husband to Yuki, Aoki Sasaki hadn't always been a peasant out in the countryside. Prior to travelling the country, Aoki had been an up-jumped samurai. When his lord was caught committing low crimes and his titles and land stripped by the Bakufu, any samurai in service to them was released, masterless. As one of those warriors, Aoki decided to travel instead of begging on the streets for another Daimyo to take him into their service. He saw much of Kyokai, and inevitably sailed across the inland sea to the northernmost island of Terawa.
There he found peace, and though its people lived humble lives far different from those whom he associated with before, he found comfort in the change. Although skilled with blade and bow, he found no joy in battle--a truth his travels taught him over time. When his journey finally took him to the remote village of Kanamura however, he found a new reason to conclude his travels. Beyond the peace and tranquility offered in such a countryside locale, he would inevitably find the love of his life there, Yuki.
From samurai to peasant, Aoki would trade his sword for a plow and seed basket. After marriage, he began his new life there in the mountainside village, eventually having a daughter together whom they would name Aya after the blood moon (lunar eclipse) which had been occurring the night of her birth.
Years would go by, and eventually ill fate would strike the village of Kanamura. Creatures of the abyss descended from the mountains one tragic evening, and Aoki would be slain in defense of his wife and daughter.
