"That tentacle thing abducted every king it could find on the boat, and yet it left me behind! Frankly, I'm a little insulted."
Darius has gone on record saying that he is not a dwarf of intelligence, but it is clear he has a heart for his people and those of the
Crescent Empire as a whole. Originally an orphan growing up in the Warrens of
Brightforge, Darius managed to be named a Stoneborn in his young adult life, a prestigious title used to grant outstanding dwarven citizens special priviledges and powers. He eventually was named caretaker of the Pale Tombs, a sacred duty granted to one who was entrusted to gaurd and maintain the resting place for many dwarven heroes and nobles, including that of
Telmin Brightforge.
Unfortuantely, Darius made the mistake of letting in disguised tomb raiders during one of his shifts, and was promptly relieved of his duty and publicly shamed by the dwarven community. It was shortly after this that, while drinking at his favorite tavern, Darius encountered
The Companions, who needed a guide through the Pale Tombs to recover a shard of
The Eclipse Stone. Convincing Darius to lead them through due to his expert knowledge of the catacombs, the group alongside the dwarf discovered that Darius was actually a descendant of the Brightforge line, as his blood opened the way into Telmin's tomb. Upon returning to
Brightforge proper, Darius used the Brightforge hammer of Telmin himself to lay claim to the vacant Brightforge throne, vowing to be the best king he was capable of being.
Having no experience in politics or royal duties, Darius nonetheless proved to be quite capable in his role as king, remaining loyal to
Emperor Lunin and the
Crescent Empire as a whole. He fought valiantly to reclaim his city from the Ancient red dragon
Jaxah, and was present during the
Battle of the New Dawn, fighting alongside the Companions and their allies. Still a close friend to the Companions, Darius survived the battle and still rules Brightforge as the city and the Crescent Empire as a whole attempts to rebuild itself from the horrors of
Nex.
