Tench dug himself out from the rubble to find a bloody scar seared into the land around him. Smoldering ash lay where his companions had once stood, and in the distance a looming form moved on...

The Infernals are well-known as a savage race. Since the First Age, the residents of Ashfell could possess an army capable of conquering the known realms, should they desire. Fortunately, the Infernals (particularly their leaders The Primarchs) are characterized by infighting, and are fiercely divided between their seven primarchs and territories.
In a surprising alliance during the Second Age, a number of the Infernal Primarchs joined their legion forces to bypass The Barrier of Providence  with the help of mortal hands. Invading the mortal realm, the planet Arkos experienced the Crimson Harvest, the largest Infernal presence on the world since before The Cataclysm . The Infernals were eventually repeled back to Ashfell largely in part due to their infighting by the people of Arkos, though without the general help of the Ancients. Unable to get the Primarchs to see reason, the Infernal leadership of the invasion were either shunned or punished for a failure that was not their doing.
