Half-Elves are created through the union of an elf and another sapient creature. Myths of them only being elf/human hybrids are generally false. Therefore, the only confirmed genetic ancestor of a half-elf is an elf.

While half-elves vary wildly depending on their individual elven and non-elven heritage, all share similar traits of elves such as low-light vision, natural resistance to fey magics, and more specific traits based on their elven blood. For example, Half-Elves with Wood Elf heritage may share their heightened agility, or they may even gain the tetra-brachial arms of wood elves.
