Like Dogs and Cats

Summary

After waiting a few hours to be sure the Third Champion was gone, the party exits the sewers alongside Sokamoto and Trinn. Navigating through the rubble, the party spot a group of were-rats feasting on the bodies of tiefling and tabaxi alike left behind after battle. Sokamoto feels guilty, realizing that he should have rebelled sooner and that all of this death is his fault. Overcome by emotion, his guilt manifests as a sorrowsworn which attacks the party. The battle draws some wererats to join the fray, but with the extra help of their new allies the party makes short work of them. The party soon reaches elven territory and is halted by a guard named Lhoris. They talk their way in, and a crowd gathers to watch as Sokamoto is escorted into the Cloister. The Dragonguard and acolytes form a strong show of force and a tense meeting between Syldara and Sokamoto is held behind closed doors during the night as the party rests. In the morning, they find that the two generals' distrust has given way to friendliness. A war council of sorts is held between Syldara, Sokamoto, Virren, and the party.   Plans are made to attack and capture Goldenblood Keep, Erevan's ancestral seat and the Third Champion's base of operations. Sokamoto says the Champion should not be killed, as he will simply return to the Obsidian Empress with detailed information on everyone. Instead he suggests disabling him with the incapacitation collar they put on him.   Virren believes that once the spire is disabled, a sufficiently powerful spellcaster might be able to bring the entire city back. He's working on a modified version of Plane Shift. Syldara remembers Erolith talking about a source of power in Goldenblood Keep that his bloodline can access. Sokamoto knows it's draconic in origin, as that's one of the reason the champions were sent to Teldyrn. Trinn interrupts from the shadows and says that the acolytes have been looking into this power, and the Third Champion cannot be allowed to access it or he will be unstoppable.   Sokamoto will need time to marshal his forces, Syldara will need time to prepare the wolfsbane potions, and VIrren will need time to finish the spell. In the meantime, the party plans to head back down to the ground and take out the Planespire. They message Ferdinand who waits for them below Teldyrn on a palanquin attended by several rabbitfolk household guard.
