On the Edge of Defeat

Summary

The party wakes up in the Cerulean Spire and meets with Syldara via Virren's communication chamber. She found out about their quest for the aconite through Trinn and is upset she wasn't told, but admits that she was being unreasonable. The party informs her of Sokamoto and she says she would like to meet him.
The party leaves the Spire to ask Sokamoto to accompany them to the Temple of the Ascendant Dragon. As they are leaving they spot a skirmish in the distance and get their first glimpse of the Third Champion. In order to avoid him, they headed back down through the sewers. They find the passage they had initially taken was completely overgrown by brown mold and seek out a way around it. They come across a moon fragment swarming with were-rats, and in the midst of doing battle with them make enough noise that the Third Champion is alerted to them from the streets above. He and several tiefling soldiers enter, and the party is clearly outmatched by the Champion. They are rescued by the timely arrival of Sokamoto, and strangely of Trinn as well who seems focused mainly on getting Erevan out safely. Sokamoto is able to case a cave-in that separates the Third Champion from them, and they all return to his hideout.
After being informed of Syldara's desire to meet, Sokamoto agrees to accompany the party back to her base. Erevan asks Trinn what she was doing there and she says she had been following as backup just in case, as she feels a responsibility to Erevan as the rightful heir of the city.
