No Honor Among Thieves
General Summary
With the Diligence fast approaching, the party made ready for battle. Antoine mentioned that he'd heard in prison that the Hildonian Navy had begun cracking down on piracy, and were offering pardons and rewards for any pirates who turned on their fellows. Realizing that this must be why they were being fired on by their own ship, the pirates headed below deck to assist the rowers while the party stayed up top to fight off the enemies. As the battle began, Precision heard the voice of Percival Fould in her mind communicating telepathically with her to ask if she was safe after the fight. Upon learning that the party had left town, his tone changed and he reminded her that she still has his arcaltium ring, and that she had forgotten Pancake. The party made short work of the majority of the pirates, although the captain proved to be a formidable foe in his own right. The group eventually proved victorious, although in the course of the battle the Amity's mast was destroyed. Realizing that his ship would not be able to outrun the approaching Hildonian ship-of-the-line, John Foote made the begrudging decision to leave his ship behind as a distraction while he, his crew, and the Larrons escaped on the Diligence. Before he had a chance to offer an escape route to the party, Precision lept to shore and began running back to Alcaster. Meanwhile Ciana, after receiving a vision from the Guardian, elected to travel with Foote back to Kassoth where she would deliver the information they uncovered to Garen of Font-Pelier. Lethe and Erevan disembarked and hid in the woods to wait for Precision's return.Chapter Twelve
