Duskveil

The city of Duskveil has flourished since the Siege of Duskveil. Under the rule of The Diarchy of Paragons, Duskveil was able to utilise Aetheryte to its fullest potential, becoming the sole exporter of lustrate aetheryte.
In the convergence of coastal beauty, mountain resilience, and arcane ingenuity, Duskveil remains a city that defies challenges, emerging stronger and more vibrant with each passing day.
Duskveil, a semi-pirate themed city nestled on the coastal cliffs and carved into the heart of a mountain, stands as a resilient testament to the spirit of its diverse inhabitants. Although the city is in the process of rebuilding after the Siege, its strategic location and purposeful reconstruction as a defensible stronghold continue to shape its character.

Demographics

Duskveil is a city of moderate size, home to approximately 70,000 inhabitants. The diverse population comprises various humanoid races. Underground races are a rarity in Duskveil, fostering a unique cultural mix that thrives on the vibrant surface life.

Industry & Trade

Duskveil is renowned for its unique capability to create lustrate Aetheryte, a valuable resource with versatile applications. The city holds the exclusive access to this precious material.   Mastery over aetheryte extends to the city's ability to transform it into various forms, including charged and lustrate aetheryte. This proficiency fuels technological advancements and arcane developments.   Duskveil's economic transactions revolve around gold scales, minted coins featuring images of the Paragons on one side and a gold scale on the other. This system contributes to a unified and recognizable currency.   As the sole city with access to lustrate aetheryte, Duskveil holds a unique economic position, attracting trade and commerce to its fortified walls.

List of Establishments

Starfolder’s Tavern
Owner: Sprick M’Dread (Raunchy, elderly Gnome)   The Starfolder’s Tavern is usually the first place of stay for those who fall into the harbor. The citizens of the city chip in to a small fund to ensure basic stay is covered for a few weeks while newcomers get settled in. Because of this, Starfolder’s Tavern is the fastest-growing. Due to its affinity for attracting adventurers, it is also a fine place to look for crewmates. It’s intricate, almost elven architecture covered in blue and green wood boards makes Starfolder’s Tavern a prime destination along the lower parts of the island.
Mastey Pates #2
Owner: Gharina Twosonne (Intimidating human female)   The building, while mostly bland, has a round circular centre to the architecture. An upstairs floor hosts an unknown and secretive group. This tavern is located at the highest part of the city, atop the mountain.
Stallion Stocks
Owner: Chip Drakolawn (Eccentric Tiefling Male)   This general store is a general store in name only. Weapons, armor, rations, and even magical items are sold here. Festivities, fireworks, and favours are some of the many random things you may find here. If you’re an adventurer, this emporium of equipment is sure to have what you need for any adventure you wish to take… or so the owner claims. Chip is a bit of an ostentatious Tiefling who by himself makes this shop a place worth experiencing. The large series of coloured purple tents around the building and exterior seating areas are popular gathering locations for local bards and swindlers. If you want to bet away your money or spend it responsibility, both can be enjoyed at Stallion Stocks. This shop is located at the lower parts of the city.
Ohread’s Obfuscated Obscurities
Owner: Ohread (Gothic, oracle-like half-elven woman)   Ohread’s fortune teller-like outfit makes her a dead giveaway walking the streets. This shop offers all the usual esoterics: hypnosis, tarot readings, and fortune telling. However, its gift shop is no joke. Rumours say that mixed between the many worthless trinkets lay some intriguing magical items for sale. This Blue and gold tented building is rather small and features no windows. It is located closer to the top of the island.
Absolam’s Pendants
Owner: D’straeki Absolam (long-haired, straight dark-haired, tanned foreign human male)   If you’re looking for firearms, cannons for a ship, black powder, scrap metal, or clockwork contraptions, Absolam is the first place people will point you to. His work is unmatched: beautiful and reliable firearms as well as interesting clockwork trinkets mark his brand. Wayfinding devices and time-telling devices are popular purchases from those traveled enough to afford them. This shop is made entirely of polished stone and red clay. Its signage is in a strange series of symbols, presumably the native tongue of the rather foreign owner.
Candice Hollywellin’s
Owner: Candice Hollywellin (patient and delicate female elf with long white hair and glassy blue eyes)   This home business-turned custom outfit store is the peak of fashion. While a variety of tailors and designers exist in Duskveil, Candice is the most iconic. Her work, especially for well-known pirates helps craft memorable looks for those looking to gain an upper hand in more than just combat. Her work is slick and delicately expressive, but it is far from cheap. This leads it to not only be iconic but a symbol of status amongst pirates to wear her designs. Her place looks like a typical home, with a sign hanging crookedly above the front door. Broken spools and mannequins litter the small front lawn of the building.     Additional shops include, but are not limited to: flower shops, ship repair docks, general food stores, various restaurants, exclusive pirate clubs, and several various fashion outlets.
