Elvish
Elvish (commonly called Elven and sometimes referred to as the "True Tongue") is the language of the elves. It is the most commonly spoken language in Avalor outside of Common and its main dialects. Elvish is often used to decorate jewelry, monuments, and magic items.
Elvish is an ancient language that originates from Sylvan. Its written alphabet, Espruar, was developed by moon elves in the Age of Arcanum. It was later adopted by many other types of high elves, and has remained the preferred script for millennia. Some tribes of wood elves adopted Espruar as well, although most use more rudimentary runic symbols or lack written language entirely.
Elvish is fluid, with subtle intonations and intricate grammar. Elven literature is rich and varied, and their songs and poems are famous among other races. Many bards learn their language so they can add Elvish ballads to their repertoires.
